The present invention is designed to provide a user terminal, a radio base station and a radio communication method of novel structures that can achieve a good communication environment. A radio base station non-orthogonal-multiplexes downlink signals for a plurality of user terminals over a given radio resource, a user terminal having received the downlink signals for the plurality of user terminals decodes downlink signal for another user terminal, judges whether or not the downlink signal for the other user terminal has been successfully received, based on the decoding result of the downlink signal, reports a judgement result as to whether or not the downlink signal for the other user terminal has been successfully received and a judgement result as to whether or not a downlink signal for the user terminal has been successfully received, to the radio base station, and then the radio base station executes retransmission control of downlink signals based on reports from the user terminal.

When one or more proximity conditions are detected as being satisfied as between the mobile computing device and the vehicle, a communication is sent to the vehicle in order to cause the vehicle to implement one or more pre-entry vehicle configurations. The communication can be based on the digital key and may specify the one or more outside parameters.

A preferred roaming list (PRL) carries system and acquisition records for wireless wide area network (WWAN) systems and wireless local area network (WLAN) systems. New system and acquisition records may be defined for WLAN. The PRL and system and acquisition records may be defined to be backward compatible with TIA-683-C. System and acquisition information for WLAN systems may be stored in the new system and acquisition records, respectively. Information used to perform encryption and/or authentication for WLAN systems may be stored in a separate WLAN authentication profile table. The system record for each WLAN system indicates a acquisition record and a profile record for that WLAN system. A network identifier table may also carry system records and profile records for WLAN systems. The system records carry information used for WLAN system selection and acquisition. The profile records carry information used to perform encryption and/or authentication for WLAN systems.

In response to detecting the entry condition, a determination is made as to when multiple mobile computing devices are present within the vehicle. An occupancy zone is determined for each multiple mobile computing device that is determined as being present within the vehicle. Profile information is determined for each mobile computing device. At least one of an operational or usage facet of the vehicle can be configured at each occupancy zone in which one of the mobile computing devices is determined to be present. The operational or usage facet of the vehicle at a location of each occupancy zone can be based at least in part on the profile information determined from the mobile computing device that is deemed to be present at that occupancy zone.

A system for providing a dynamic multi-mode service acquisition capability to a subscriber station is provided. The subscriber station is capable of operating in two or more modes of operation. A time to scan condition is indicated while the subscriber station is operating in a current mode of operation having active and inactive states. Responsive thereto, the system stores state information for the current mode of operation, and attempts at least a partial acquisition of communications services in accordance with another mode of operation. The at least partial acquisition attempt is scheduled to be initiated while the subscriber station is operating in the inactive state in the current mode of operation, and completed before the subscriber station transitions back to the active state in the current mode of operation. If the acquisition attempt is successful, the subscriber station transitions to the new mode of operation, maintaining appropriate registration. If unsuccessful, the subscriber station uses the stored state information to resume operating in the current mode of operation.

Aspects of the disclosure provide for a thin control channel structure that can be utilized to enable multiplexing of two or more data transmission formats. For example, a thin control channel may carry information that enables ongoing transmissions utilizing a first, relatively long transmission time interval (TTI) to be punctured, and during the punctured portion of the long TTI, a transmission utilizing a second, relatively short TTI may be inserted. This puncturing is enabled by virtue of a thin channel structure wherein a control channel can carry scheduling information, grants, etc., informing receiving devices of the puncturing that is occurring or will occur. Furthermore, the thin control channel can be utilized to carry other control information, not being limited to puncturing information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
