NFATc1 controls the cytotoxicity of CD8+ T cells
Stefan Klein-Hessling,Khalid Muhammad,Matthias Klein,Tobias Pusch,Ronald Rudolf,Jessica Flöter,Musga Qureischi,Andreas Beilhack,Martin Vaeth,Martin Vaeth,Carsten Kummerow,Christian S. Backes,Rouven Schoppmeyer,Ulrike Hahn,Markus Hoth,Tobias Bopp,Friederike Berberich-Siebelt,Amiya K. Patra,Amiya K. Patra,Andris Avots,Nora Müller,Almut Schulze,Edgar Serfling +22 more
TL;DR: Genome-wide ChIP-seq data indicate that NFATc1 is an important regulator of cytotoxic T lymphocyte effector functions, and this work shows it controls the cytotoxicity and metabolic switching of activated CD8+ T cells required for optimal response to bacteria and tumor cells.

NFATc1/αA: The other Face of NFAT Factors in Lymphocytes
Edgar Serfling,Andris Avots,Stefan Klein-Hessling,Ronald Rudolf,Martin Vaeth,Friederike Berberich-Siebelt +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, NFATc1/αA was found to contribute to lymphoma genesis and to further disorders of the lymphoid system, which is a prime target for causal therapies of immune disorders in future.
Induction of Short NFATc1/αA Isoform Interferes with Peripheral B Cell Differentiation.
Khalid Muhammad,Ronald Rudolf,Duong Anh Thuy Pham,Stefan Klein-Hessling,Katsuyoshi Takata,Nobuko Matsushita,Volker Ellenrieder,Eisaku Kondo,Edgar Serfling +8 more
TL;DR: Since expression of a constitutive active version of NFATc1/αA interfered with Prdm1 RNA expression, LPS-mediated differentiation of splenic B cells to plasmablasts in vitro and reduced immunoglobulin production in vivo, one may conclude that NFATC1/ αA plays an important role in controlling plasmablast/plasma cell formation.
Superantigen-presentation by rat major histocompatibility complex class II molecules RT1.Bl and RT1.Dl
Henry Dlaske,Hatice Karauzum,Elisa Monzón-Casanova,Ronald Rudolf,Lisa Starick,Ingrid Müller,Gerhild Wildner,Maria Diedrichs-Möhring,Norbert Koch,Tohru Miyoshi-Akiyama,Takehiko Uchiyama,Kurt Wonigeit,Bernhard Fleischer,Silke Overbeck,Lothar Rink,Thomas Herrmann +15 more
TL;DR: The idea that a lack of SEA presentation may not be a general feature of RT1.D molecules but could be a consequence of RT.Dβ‐chain allele‐specific substitutions in the extremely conserved region flanking the Zn2+‐binding histidine 81, which is crucial for high‐affinity SEA‐binding is discussed.

Corrigendum: NFATc1 supports imiquimod-induced skin inflammation by suppressing IL-10 synthesis in B cells
Hani Alrefai,Khalid Muhammad,Ronald Rudolf,Duong Anh Thuy Pham,Stefan Klein-Hessling,Amiya K. Patra,Andris Avots,Valesca Bukur,Ugur Sahin,Stefan Tenzer,Matthias Goebeler,Andreas Kerstan,Edgar Serfling +12 more
TL;DR: Corrigendum: NFATc1 supports imiquimod-induced skin inflammation by suppressing IL-10 synthesis in B cells by inhibiting TNF-mediated cell reprograming and promoting wound healing in mice.
