Machine emulator: Power-electronics based test equipment for testing high-power drive converters
Martin Oettmeier,Roman Bartelt,Carsten Heising,Volker Staudt,A. Steimel,St. Tietmeyer,B. Bock,Ch. Doerlemann +7 more
- 20 May 2010
TL;DR: Today the development process for power electronics includes modeling, simulation, control design, implementation in hardware and finally the test of the hardware at a suitable test bench.

Multivariable pole-placement control design for a single-phase 50-kW, 16.7-Hz railway traction line-side converter
Carsten Heising,Martin Oettmeier,Roman Bartelt,Volker Staudt,A. Steimel +4 more
- 18 Mar 2009
TL;DR: In this paper, a multivariable control of a four-quadrant converter (4qc) of a typical 16.7Hz railway application is derived in detail, including the obligatory resonant circuit connected in parallel to the DC-link capacitor.
23
Analysis of Single-Phase 50-kW 16.7-Hz PI-Controlled Four-Quadrant Line-Side Converter Under Different Grid Characteristics
TL;DR: The steady-state and transient operations of a single-phase 50-kW 16.7-Hz four-quadrant line-side converter is analyzed in detail and the proportional-integral control scheme is described in detail, verified for sinusoidal as well as highly disturbed line voltage.

Modelling of rotary converter in electrical railway traction power-systems for stability analysis
Carsten Heising,Jie Fang,Roman Bartelt,Volker Staudt,Andreas Steimel +4 more
- 10 Dec 2010
TL;DR: In this article, a set of differential equations representing even the transient behaviour of a rotary converter is derived, based on this resulting differential equations, simulations studies of the transient behavior are presented, and the behaviour of rotary converters with and without a damper-winding system on the three-phase side is analyzed.

Fault Scenarios in DC Ship Grids: The advantages and disadvantages of modular multilevel converters.
TL;DR: In this article, the advantages of ac grids become less prominent as converters are used for the optimized operation of devices, and conventional ac motors and generators are directly connected to the ac grid.
