Susceptibility of koi × crucian carp and koi × goldfish hybrids to koi herpesvirus (KHV) and the development of KHV disease (KHVD)
Sven Bergmann,Jacek Sadowski,Maciej Kielpinski,M. Bartlomiejczyk,Dieter Fichtner,Roland Riebe,Matthias Lenk,J. Kempter +7 more
TL;DR: According to the results, hybrid crossbreeding does not seem to prevent severe losses associated with KHV in terms of inducing KHVD, and severe losses after a waterborne KHV infection of between 35% and 100% in koi x goldfish and koi X crucian carp hybrids as well as in SPF carp.

A novel porcine in vitro model of the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier with strong barrier function.
Mira Schroten,Franz-Georg Hanisch,Natascha Quednau,Carolin Stump,Roland Riebe,Matthias Lenk,Hartwig Wolburg,Tobias Tenenbaum,Christian Schwerk +8 more
TL;DR: The data suggest the PCP-R cell line as a suitable in vitro model of the porcine BCSFB including high transepithelial electrical resistance above 600 Ω×cm2 as well as low permeability for macromolecules.
Classical swine fever virus Strain 'C'. How long is it detectable after oral vaccination?
TL;DR: It is concluded that C-strain vaccine virus is not detectable in wild boars longer than 10-12 days after intake of the vaccine baits.

Common vole (Microtus arvalis) and bank vole (Myodes glareolus) derived permanent cell lines differ in their susceptibility and replication kinetics of animal and zoonotic viruses.
Florian Binder,Matthias Lenk,Saskia Weber,Franziska Stoek,Veronika Dill,Sven Reiche,Roland Riebe,Kerstin Wernike,Donata Hoffmann,Ute Ziegler,Heiko Adler,Sandra Essbauer,Rainer G. Ulrich +12 more
TL;DR: These newly developed cell lines may represent useful tools to study virus-cell interactions and to identify and characterize host cell factors involved in replication of rodent associated viruses.

Establishment of a new bovine leukosis virus producing cell line
Dagmar Beier,Roland Riebe,Petra Blankenstein,Elke Starick,Angelika Bondzio,Otfried Marquardt +5 more
TL;DR: False positive results caused by BVDV cross-reactions could be eliminated when tests were carried out with antigen derived from the new cell line, which carries a BLV provirus of the Belgian species.
