TL;DR: Using the ImmunoChip custom genotyping array, this article analyzed 14,498 subjects with multiple sclerosis and 24,091 healthy controls for 161,311 autosomal variants and identified 135 potentially associated regions (P < 1.0 × 10(-4)).

T helper 1 (Th1) functional phenotype of human myelin basic protein-specific T lymphocytes.
Rhonda R. Voskuhl,Roland Martin,Cheryl M. Bergman,Mira Dalal,Nancy H. Ruddle,Henry F. McFarland +5 more
TL;DR: Human T cell lines specific for an immunodominant region of MBP were shown to have a functional phenotype similar to T helper 1 (Th1) inflammatory cells of the mouse on the basis of their antigen-specific cytotoxic activity and production of interferon-gamma and lymphotoxin/tumor necrosis factor-alpha, but not interleukin-4.
151
Structural basis for the binding of an immunodominant peptide from myelin basic protein in different registers by two HLA-DR2 proteins.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that MHC molecules can impose different alignments and conformations on the same bound peptide as a consequence of topological differences in their peptide-binding sites, thereby creating distinct T cell epitopes.

TL;DR: This work identifies four novel genes driving MS risk independently of common-variant signals, highlighting key pathogenic roles for regulatory T cell homeostasis and regulation, IFNγ biology, and NFκB signaling.

Crystal structure of a superantigen bound to the high-affinity, zinc-dependent site on MHC class II.

TL;DR: Surprisingly, SPE-C makes extensive contacts with the MBP peptide, such that peptide accounts for one third of the surface area of the MHC molecule buried in the complex, similar to TCR-peptide/MHC complexes, which may optimize T cell responses by mimicking the peptide dependence of conventional antigen presentation and recognition.
