The Interstellar Light Echoes around SN 1987A
TL;DR: In this article, the observed light echoes around SN 1987A are modeled by dust in planar clouds roughly 120 and 330 pc in front of the supernova, and surface brightness and colors of the echoes are modeled using a mix of silicate and graphite grains appropriate to the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC).

TL;DR: Gamma-ray astronomy explores the most energetic photons in nature to address some of the most pressing puzzles in contemporary astrophysics as discussed by the authors, and it encompasses a wide range of objects and phenomena: stars, supernovae, novae, neutron stars, stellar-mass black holes, nucleosynthesis, the interstellar medium, cosmic rays and relativistic-particle acceleration.
Discovery of Outlying High-Velocity Oxygen-Rich Ejecta in Cassiopeia A
Robert A. Fesen,Molly Hammell,Jon A. Morse,Roger A. Chevalier,Kazimierz J. Borkowski,Michael A. Dopita,Christopher L. Gerardy,Stephen S. Lawrence,John C. Raymond,Sidney van den Bergh +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors focused on a similar or equal to 1.5 arcmin(2) region located along the eastern limb of the remnant where they identify three main classes of outer ejecta: (1) knots dominated by [N(II)] lambda lambda 6548, 6583 emission, especially [O(II)) lambda lambda 7319, 7330, and (3) knots with emission-line strengths similar to the [S(II)-strong fast-moving knot (FMK) ejecta commonly seen in the main emission shell).
A model for the radio brightness of the supernova remnant 1987A
TL;DR: In this article, the authors attributed the radio increase to the interaction of the SN shock with this density jump, and the required efficiency of electron acceleration and magnetic field amplification is larger than usually occurs in SNe and SNR.
Was the millisecond pulsar in SN1987A spun up or born spinning fast
S. E. Woosley,Roger A. Chevalier +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it is argued that the millisecond pulsar in SN1987A has been spun up by accretion, and the accreted angular momentum in this case comes from the mixed mantle and helium core of the ejecta, of which roughly 0.1 solar mass fell back during the first day after the explosion.
