Entanglement properties of two uncoupled atoms embedded in a coherent field distribution through one quantum transition process are studied. A case of non-linear Hamiltonian of the problem is considered through which the effect of non-linear media is illustrated. Moreover, the effect of the frequency difference between the inter-atomic transition and the electromagnetic field is also analyzed. We show that, adjusting the considered parameters of the non-linear media and frequency difference leads to a strong control of the degree of entanglement where excellent periodicity of evolution with significant amplitudes maxima of entanglement can be obtained that is very important in predicting the behavior of transmitted information through the application of various information processing schemes. We present a detailed and comparative study of atom–atom entanglement for two cases corresponding to different injections of the two atoms one by one into the cavity field. In addition, we present an answer to the question: How is the quantum phase space structure for a composite system related to the entanglement characteristics of the corresponding quantum system? We demonstrate how can the entanglement in nonlinear tripartite systems be strongly associated with a delocalization in the phase space distribution.

An investigation of a nonlocal entanglement of two uncoupled atoms embedded in a coherent cavity field and the associated phase space distribution: one quantum non-linear process

We propose deterministic and scalable schemes to realize quantum controlled phase gate between two distant atoms and implement entanglement swapping between two EPR pairs by means of cavity-assisted photon scattering. Due to cavity quantum electrodynamics and the atom selection rule, left circular polarized and right circular polarized single-photon pulse reflected from the cavity obtain different phase shifts, which yields giant Faraday rotation. It can be used to realize universal quantum gates and implement quantum information processing with current technology. Our schemes can work well even the cavity is in low-Q case.

Implementation of Quantum Controlled Phase Gate and Entanglement Swapping via Photonic Faraday Rotation

We experimentally demonstrate a non-local generation of entanglement from two independent photonic sources in an ancilla-free process. Two bosons (photons) are entangled in polarization space by steering into a novel interferometer setup, in which they have never met each other. The entangled photons are delivered to polarization analyzers in different sites, respectively, and a non-local interaction is observed. Entanglement is further verified by the way of the measured violation of a CHSH type Bell's inequality with S-values of 2.54 and 27 standard deviations. Our results will shine a new light onto the understanding of how quantum mechanics works, have possible philosophic consequences on the one hand and provide an essential element for quantum information processing on the other hand. Potential applications of our results are briefly discussed.
