Characteristics and stability analyses of transient one-dimensional two- phase flow equations and their finite difference approximations
Robert W. Lyczkowski,Dimitri Gidaspow,Charles W. Solbrig,E. D. Hughes +3 more
- 01 Jan 1975
TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the ill-posedness of IVPs for two-phase flow partial differential equations which possess complex characteristics produces unstable numerical schemes, which can be removed by the addition of physically motivated differential terms which eliminate the complex characteristics.
Safety consideration and economic advantage of a new underground nuclear power plant design
Robert W. Lyczkowski,J.T. Ching +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a conceptual design of an underground nuclear power plant is proposed to make undergrounding of nuclear reactors not only environmentally desirable but also economically feasible, where the emphasis is on the containment of a catastrophic accident caused by external means.

Application of Multiphase Flow Simulation in Pharmaceutical Processes
Hamid Arastoopour,Dimitri Gidaspow,Robert W. Lyczkowski +2 more
- 01 Jan 2022
TL;DR: In this article, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach for design, scale-up, and performance optimization of a pharmaceutical bubbling fluidized bed dryer is presented.

Calculation of the governing equations for a seriated unequal velocity, equal temperature two‐phase continuum
TL;DR: In this article, the governing equations describing the flow of an unequal phase velocity, equal phase temperature (UVET) seriated two-phase continuum as derived by Solbrig and Hughes (1978) are solved in one space dimension.
