Quantitative sizing of nano/microparticles with a tunable elastomeric pore sensor.
Robert Vogel,Geoff R. Willmott,Darby Kozak,G. Seth Roberts,Will Anderson,Linda Groenewegen,Ben Glossop,Anne Barnett,Ali Turner,Matt Trau +9 more
TL;DR: The use of a "size-tunable" polyurethane resistive pulse sensor for quantitative sizing of nano- and microparticles is presented and a linear relationship, as first suggested by Maxwell, between particle volume and change in electric resistance across the pore was observed.

Simultaneous size and ζ-potential measurements of individual nanoparticles in dispersion using size-tunable pore sensors.
TL;DR: This work presents a methodology to simultaneously extract the size and ζ-potential of objects from the resistive pulse signal they generate, and represents a new approach for investigating and understanding the fundamental behavior of nanoscale dispersions.

High-Resolution Single Particle Zeta Potential Characterisation of Biological Nanoparticles using Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing.
Robert Vogel,Anoop K. Pal,Siddharth Jambhrunkar,Pragnesh Patel,Sachin S. Thakur,Eduardo Reátegui,Harendra S. Parekh,Paula Saá,Adonis Stassinopoulos,Murray F. Broom +9 more
TL;DR: The proposed tunable resistive pulse sensing for simultaneous size and surface charge measurements on a particle-by-particle basis will provide a better understanding of nano-bio interactions, positively impacting nanomedicine development and their regulatory approval.
Five-nanometer diamond with luminescent nitrogen-vacancy defect centers.
Bradley R. Smith,David W. Inglis,Bjornan Sandnes,James R. Rabeau,Andrei V. Zvyagin,D. Gruber,Christopher J. Noble,Robert Vogel,Eiji Osawa,Taras Plakhotnik +9 more
TL;DR: It was observed that the SNDs exhibited significant luminescence in the red spectral region before irradiation, and the absence of the zero-phonon lines at 637 and 575 nm indicated that the Luminescence did not originate from NV centers as compared with the NV spectrum.

Measuring particle size distribution and mass concentration of nanoplastics and microplastics: addressing some analytical challenges in the sub-micron size range
Fanny Caputo,Robert Vogel,John Savage,G. Vella,A. Law,G. Della Camera,Gary Hannon,Ben Peacock,Dora Mehn,J. Ponti,Otmar Geiss,Dimitri Aubert,Adriele Prina-Mello,Luigi Calzolai +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared the performance of nine analytical techniques by measuring the particle size distribution and mass-based concentration of polystyrene mixtures containing both nano and microparticles, with the educational aim to underline applicability and limitations of each technique.
