Migration routes and timing in a bird wintering in South Asia, the Common Rosefinch Carpodacus erythrinus
TL;DR: Only few bird species from Western Europe migrate eastward to wintering areas in South Asia, and little is known about this migratory flyway as mentioned in this paper, except for the Common Rosefinch.

Wide ranging stopover movements and substantial fuelling in first year garden warblers at a northern stopover site
TL;DR: The aim was to determine the distance birds relocated from the coastal capture site when searching for an area to settle in, and also to establish the duration of stopover and put it in relation to refuelling rate by recapturing a subset of the radio-tracked individuals.

Inability to regain normal body mass despite extensive refuelling in great reed warblers following the trans‐Sahara crossing during spring migration
Thord Fransson,Måns Karlsson,Cecilia Kullberg,Robert Stach,Christos Barboutis,Christos Barboutis +5 more
TL;DR: The results found show that great reed warblers at this site regularly deposit larger fuel loads than needed for one continued flight stage, suggesting that rebuilding structural tissue may take longer time than previously thought.
Geolocators reveal three consecutive wintering areas in the thrush nightingale
TL;DR: The migratory movements in Africa between wintering sites are well-coordinated with high precipitation in these areas, suggesting that thrush nightingales track peaks of insect abundance occurring after rains and shows that long-distance migrants can have complex wintering behaviour.
The Indo‐European flyway: Opportunities and constraints reflected by Common Rosefinches breeding across Europe
Simeon Lisovski,Simeon Lisovski,Roland Neumann,Tomáš Albrecht,Tomáš Albrecht,Pavel Munclinger,Markus Ahola,Silke Bauer,Jaroslav Cepák,Thord Fransson,Sven Jakobsson,Tuomo Jaakkonen,Petr Klvana,Cecilia Kullberg,Toni Laaksonen,Benjamin Metzger,Markus Piha,Peter Shurulinkov,Robert Stach,Kåre Ström,William Velmala,Martins Briedis,Martins Briedis +22 more
TL;DR: This work aims to identify potential migratory barriers and corridors, as well as general migration strategies within the understudied Indo‐European flyway.
