Crop Adaptation to Climate Change
S. S. Yadav,Robert Redden,Jerry L. Hatfield,H. Lotze-Campden,A. E. Hall +4 more
- 02 Aug 2011
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the science needed not only to understand climate change effects on crops but also to adapt current agricultural systems, particularly in regard to genetics, to the changing conditions.

Breeding for biotic stress resistance in chickpea: progress and prospects
Haobing Li,Matthew S. Rodda,Annathurai Gnanasambandam,Mohammad Aftab,Robert Redden,Kristy Hobson,Garry M. Rosewarne,Michael Materne,Sukhjiwan Kaur,Anthony Slater +9 more
TL;DR: Significant chickpea genomic resources have been developed and promise to increase efficiency as work to identify valuable candidate genes continues, as well as high-resolution phenotyping tools and cutting-edge technologies such as next-generation sequencing.

Evaluation of Helicoverpa and drought resistance in desi and kabuli chickpea
S. S. Yadav,Jeewesh Kumar,Shriprakash Yadav,Shoraj Singh,Vikas Yadav,Neil C. Turner,Robert Redden +6 more
TL;DR: It appears that the extent of pod borer damage varies between the chickpea types, and that desi types have greater drought resistance than kabuli ones, which should be informative for the population improvement of chickpeas for environments in which terminal drought and Helicoverpa damage occur frequently.

Breeding for improved productivity, multiple resistance and wide adaptation in chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)
Shyam S. Yadav,J. Kumar,Neil C. Turner,Jens Berger,Robert Redden,David L. McNeil,Michael Materne,E.J. Knights,P. N. Bahl +8 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that high productivity, multiple resistance and wide adaptability can be achieved simultaneously by using potentially complementary approaches.
