Sobering realizations in cancer prevention and screening and their lessons

El presente proyecto parte de la identificacion de la necesidad socio-sanitaria de nuevas estrategias que permitan mejorar el abordaje terapeutico de una patologia cronica de alta prevalencia en la poblacion como es la hipertension arterial (HTA).
El objetivo principal es plantear el diseno a alto nivel de una solucion de eSalud que de soporte a la integracion de nuevas estrategias terapeuticas para el automanejo y la mejora del control de la presion arterial en el paciente hipertenso mediante el uso de las tecnologias de la informacion y comunicacion (TICs).
Mediante la ingenieria de requisitos de la solucion se ha tratado de plasmar el conocimiento del problema mas cercano al usuario para plantear una solucion que satisfaga dicha necesidad con un nivel de especificacion que permitiera ser implementada en una fase posterior manteniendose fiel a la necesidad que la origino y con la calidad requerida en un proyecto del ambito de la salud.
Como resultado del proyecto se ha obtenido una especificacion de requisitos de la solucion en varios niveles de descomposicion organizados jerarquicamente, ademas de establecer el marco normativo y legislativo para los mismos. Ademas se ha llevado esta especificacion de requisitos a su implementacion en una herramienta de gestion de requisitos puntera (IBM Rational DOORS Next Generation) que permita controlar y analizar la trazabilidad y consistencia de los requisitos y sus modificaciones a lo largo de todo el ciclo de vida de la solucion, lo que puede aportar numerosas ventajas estrategicas para el proyecto.

Considering the complexity of the current framework in oncology, the relevance of animal models in biomedical research is critical in light of the capacity to produce valuable data with clinical translation. The laboratory mouse is the most common animal model used in cancer research due to its high adaptation to different environments, genetic variability, and physiological similarities with humans. Beginning with spontaneous mutations arising in mice colonies that allow for pursuing studies of specific pathological conditions, this area of in vivo research has significantly evolved, now capable of generating humanized mice models encompassing the human immune system in biological correlation with human tumor xenografts. Moreover, the era of genetic engineering, especially of the hijacking CRISPR/Cas9 technique, offers powerful tools in designing and developing various mouse strains. Within this article, we will cover the principal mouse models used in oncology research, beginning with behavioral science of animals vs. humans, and continuing on with genetically engineered mice, microsurgical-induced cancer models, and avatar mouse models for personalized cancer therapy. Moreover, the area of spontaneous large animal models for cancer research will be briefly presented.
