Multi-layered nanofibrous mucoadhesive films for buccal and sublingual administration of drug-delivery and vaccination nanoparticles - important step towards effective mucosal vaccines
Josef Mašek,Daniela Lubasová,Róbert Lukáč,Pavlina Turanek-Knotigova,Pavel Kulich,Jana Plocková,Eliška Mašková,Lubomir Prochazka,Štěpán Koudelka,Nongnut Sasithorn,Jozsef Gombos,Eliška Bartheldyová,František Hubatka,Milan Raska,Andrew D. Miller,Jaroslav Turánek +15 more
TL;DR: This novel system appears appropriate for the use in oral mucosa, especially for sublingual and buccal tissues, and trans‐/intramucosal and lymph‐node delivery of PLGA‐PEG nanoparticles was demonstrated in a porcine model.

Liposomal delivery systems for anti-cancer analogues of vitamin E
Stepan Koudelka,Pavlína Turánek Knotigová,Josef Mašek,Lubomir Prochazka,Róbert Lukáč,Andrew D. Miller,Jiri Neuzil,Jaroslav Turánek +7 more
TL;DR: Preparation of liposomal formulations of VE analogues, physico-chemical characterization of these developed systems and testing of their biological activity such as induction of apoptosis and evaluation of anti-cancer effect are discussed in this review.

The Position of His-Tag in Recombinant OspC and Application of Various Adjuvants Affects the Intensity and Quality of Specific Antibody Response after Immunization of Experimental Mice
Michal Krupka,Josef Mašek,Lucia Barkocziova,Pavlína Turánek Knotigová,Pavel Kulich,Jana Plocková,Róbert Lukáč,Eliška Bartheldyová,Stepan Koudelka,Radka Chaloupková,Marek Šebela,Daniel Zyka,Ladislav Droz,Roman Effenberg,Miroslav Ledvina,Andrew D. Miller,Jaroslav Turánek,Milan Raska +17 more
TL;DR: It is reported that levels of OspC-specific antibodies vary substantially depending upon whether rOspC possesses an N' or C' terminal His-tag, and that Th1-type antibodies predominate post-immunization with rOSpC proteoliposomes formulated with MPLA or MT06 adjuvants.
Molecular Adjuvants Based on Nonpyrogenic Lipophilic Derivatives of norAbuMDP/GMDP Formulated in Nanoliposomes: Stimulation of Innate and Adaptive Immunity
Pavlína Turánek Knotigová,Daniel Zyka,Josef Mašek,Anna Kovalová,Michal Křupka,Eliška Bartheldyová,Pavel Kulich,Štěpán Koudelka,Róbert Lukáč,Zuzana Kauerová,Antonín Vacek,Milada Horynová,Alois Kozubík,Andrew D. Miller,Ladislav Fekete,Irena Kratochvílová,Jan Ježek,Miroslav Ledvina,Milan Raska,Jaroslav Turánek +19 more
TL;DR: Liposomal formulations of new lipophilic derivatives of norAbuMDP/GMDP proved themselves as promising adjuvants for recombinant vaccines as well as immunomodulators for stimulation of innate immunity and bone-marrow recovery after chemo/radio therapy of cancer.

Nonpyrogenic Molecular Adjuvants Based on norAbu-Muramyldipeptide and norAbu-Glucosaminyl Muramyldipeptide: Synthesis, Molecular Mechanisms of Action, and Biological Activities in Vitro and in Vivo
Roman Effenberg,Pavlína Turánek Knotigová,Daniel Zyka,Hana Čelechovská,Josef Mašek,Eliška Bartheldyová,František Hubatka,Štěpán Koudelka,Róbert Lukáč,Anna Kovalová,David Šaman,Michal Křupka,Lucia Barkocziova,Petr Kosztyu,Marek Šebela,Ladislav Drož,Michal Hučko,Mária Kanásová,Andrew D. Miller,Milan Raska,Miroslav Ledvina,Jaroslav Turánek +21 more
TL;DR: Fatty acyl analogues of muramyldipeptide (MDP) are designed and synthesized comprising the normuramyl-l-α-aminobutanoyl (norAbu) structural moiety, and all new analogues show depressed pyrogenicity in both free (micellar) state and in liposomal formulations when tested in rabbits in vivo.
