Methods and apparatus to secure communications in a mobile network are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein comprises randomizing a first set of bits associated with information to be communicated over a slow associated control channel by applying a scrambling factor to generate a set of scrambled bits equal in length to the first set of bits. Another example method disclosed herein comprises concatenating a set of error detection bits with a set of information bits associated with information to be transmitted over a slow associated control channel to generate a set of coded bits, and shuffling the set of coded bits to generate a set of shuffled bits.

Methods and apparatus to secure communications in a mobile network

An embodiment of the invention discloses a wireless communication method and a distributed base station system, which relates to the field of communication and can realize multi-communication-system support functions of BBUs (baseband units) on the premise of keeping existing networking modes unchanged. A data transmission method based on CPRI (common public radio interface) includes: transmitting the BBU of the second communication system to second control data of at least one radio remote unit (RRU) to convert similar-CPRI type combined data and transmitting the combined data to the BBU of the first communication system through similar-CPRI type channels; restoring the combined data received by the BBU of the first communication system to be second control data, transmitting the second control data and the first control data to at least one RRU through CPRI channels so that at least one RRU supports data uploading and/or downloading of the first communication system and the second communication system.

Wireless communication method and distributed base station system

A method is provided a wireless system for providing small "guard" cells in a heterogeneous network at locations proximate to privately-maintained HeNB (or femto) cells in the heterogeneous network. More particularly, the methodology of the invention addresses the problem of a mobile user in a heterogeneous network located nearby to a privately maintained HeNB cell in the heterogeneous network, and the inherent interference created for the HeNB cell by the necessity of the mobile user having to transmit and receive communications from a distant public macro eNB. By deploying small public "guard" cells in the macro cell proximate to the private HeNB cells, such a public mobile terminal is enabled to communicate with the public small cell at generally lower power than would have been necessary for communication with the distant macro eNB, with a resulting reduction in interference for the nearby HeNB cell. The FL interference between the macro cell and the HeNBs is also mitigated.

Method and apparatus for interference management in heterogenous networks

Methods and systems for slow associated control channel signaling are disclosed. An example method for securing communications in a mobile network disclosed herein comprises transmitting a first variant of a message of a first type on a first slow associated control channel (SACCH) before ciphering is started on the first SACCH, and after ciphering is started on the first SACCH, transmitting a second variant of the message of the first type on the first SACCH, and subsequently transmitting the second variant of the message of the first type on the first SACCH, wherein the subsequently transmitted second variant of the message of the first type is the next transmitted message of the first type on the first SACCH.

Methods and systems for slow associated control channel signaling

The present invention relates to a method of transmitting signalling information between a first communication network element, such as a base station controller, and a second communication network element, such as a mobile phone, in a communication network. The method can be implemented in the first communication network element. First, at least two uncoded signalling messages are obtained. These at least two uncoded signalling messages are then encoded to obtain at least two encoded signalling messages. Next the encoded signalling messages are divided into bursts by interleaving data from more than one encoded signalling message. Finally the bursts are transmitted to the second communication network element. At least some bursts contain data from a predictable signalling message and an unpredictable signalling message.

Enhancing security of communication systems

Security of communications between a mobile terminal 1 and a cellular network node (base station 3) is enhanced. A communication session transmitted on a first traffic channel '0' is encrypted using a key 'KA'. The security is enhanced by causing the communication channel to change to a second communication channel '7' after a predetermined time, preferably very quickly after establishing the key. In one embodiment the communication channel then changes to a third communication channel '25' after a predetermined time. In another embodiment the communication session is encrypted using a second key 'KB' after causing the communication channel to change to the second communication channel '7'.

wherein the frequency hopping module (102) is synchronized by the clocking means (103) and time-stamps of super-frames and synchronizes with this information all dependent carrier units (200,300).
