The Relative Importance of Perceived Ease of Use in IS Adoption: A Study of E-Commerce Adoption

An organization’s supply chain is the upstream fraction of the value chain activities, aiming to ensure that the right materials, services, and technologies are purchased from the right sources, at the right time, and in the right quality. It is essential that a company is able to utilize its supply chain with the support of a good monitoring scheme. This paper considers a framework of supply chain management embracing the principles of fuzzy logic for analyzing and monitoring performance of suppliers based on the criteria of product quality and delivery time. The proposed system recommends the quantity that should be placed in the next purchase order by indicating the possible issues to be considered prior to final confirmation with the relevant suppliers.

Methodology for monitoring supply chain performance: a fuzzy logic approach

Grid computing is becoming as essential part of different business analysis. In traditional business computing infrastructures data transfer occurs to and from computing resources at the network edges. In the other hand, most business activities are bound to space and location. The aim of this chapter is to describe the business use of geographic data (business intelligence) and Geographic Information System (GIS) grids. As conclusion business intelligence helps to improve productivity by giving users information they need when they need it most at the point of decision. Organizations that effectively use geographic information elements analyzing their risk portfolio and compliance activities can reduce costs and increase the clarity of their operations. Grid computing is an answer to the needs of efficient GIS aided analysis. When geographic data, grid computing and business information are combined, they create new possibilities to enhance and broaden the standpoints of already existing data within organizations.

GIS Grids and the Business Use of GIS Data

This paper examines the influence of electronic commerce technologies in enabling companies to pursue more collaborative relations with their suppliers. Companies are now pursuing more intensive and interactive relationships with their suppliers collaborating in areas such as new product development and joint cost analysis. This paper illustrates how electronic commerce is supporting more collaborative relations by describing a number of the key areas of collaboration where electronic commerce is having a considerable impact. It is shown how electronic commerce is radically reshaping traditional supply chain structures in many industries and reducing the costs of closely integrating buyers and suppliers. However, it is argued that electronic commerce has yet to achieve its full potential in creating a seamless integrated network of partners in the supply chain. It is argued that a culture change is required in order to establish real partnerships between buyers and suppliers in which information can be exchanged on a regular basis in an environment of trust. Also, there are significant problems associated with incompatibility of systems between trading partners.

Electronic commerce: supporting collaborative buyer-supplier relations?

Companies are striving to gain an appropriate percentage of the market share in today's competitive industrial environment, as they understand that the key of success in the competitive market is to generate substantial profit by operating the company in the lowest possible costs. Logistic costs is one of the largest part of the total costs which is difficult to identify it, and many organizations are surprised by their scale and start to look for savings from logistic costs (1). Deloitte and Touche (1999) indicated that 98 percent of respondents agreed that logistics and supply chain management is either "critical" or "very important" to their company. Moreover, reducing operating costs has become the initial incentive for companies to examine their logistics and supply chain management strategies (2). More and more companies are forming close relationships with their suppliers through strategic alliance and integration to ensure best quality of the sources and lower costs. Strategic alliance and integration with suppliers are considered as a win-win situation for the joint parties and can bring mutual benefits and open relationships wherein the needs of both parties are satisfied (3). This paper aims to discuss the framework of supply chain management, embracing the principle of fuzzy logic to analyze and monitor the performance of suppliers based on the criteria of product quality and delivery time. By indicating the possible issues with the relevant suppliers prior to final confirmation, the proposed system is used to recommend the purchasing quantity to be placed in the next purchase order.
