TL;DR: The SMAP radiometer electronics are thermally controlled to achieve good radiometric stability, and analyses of on-orbit results indicate that the electrical and thermal characteristics of the electronics and internal calibration sources are very stable and promote excellent gain stability.

TL;DR: The SMAP microwave radiometer will measure land surface brightness temperature at L-band in the presence of radio frequency interference (RFI) for soil moisture remote sensing and the novel features of the radiometer hardware particularly those influenced by the need to mitigate RFI are discussed.
