Prognostic predictors relevant to end-of-life palliative care in Parkinson's disease and related disorders: a systematic review.
Umer Akbar,Robert Brett McQueen,Julienne Bemski,Julie H. Carter,Elizabeth R Goy,Jean S. Kutner,Miriam J. Johnson,Janis M. Miyasaki,Benzi M. Kluger +8 more
TL;DR: Parkinson's disease and related disorders (PDRD) are the second most common neurodegenerative disease and a leading cause of death as discussed by the authors, however, patients with PDRD receive less end-of-life palliative care (hospice) than other illnesses, including other neurologic illnesses.

An evaluation of the impact of patient cost sharing for antihypertensive medications on adherence, medication and health care utilization, and expenditures
Pesa Ja,Van Den Bos J,Travis Gray,Hartsig C,Robert Brett McQueen,Joseph J. Saseen,Kavita V. Nair +6 more
TL;DR: This study illustrates the potential adverse effects of higher patient cost sharing among patients with hypertension stratified by different risk levels and found a decrease in PDC was predictive of higher resource utilization and health care costs, which should be of interest to payers and employers alike.

Comparative effectiveness of early natalizumab treatment in JC virus-negative relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
Jonathan D. Campbell,Robert Brett McQueen,Augusto Miravalle,Corboy,Timothy Vollmer,Kavita V. Nair +5 more
TL;DR: Average QALYs, a measure that aggregates across risks and benefits, favored natalizumab, suggesting more aggressive early intervention with natalIZumab in the negative anti-JCV population, and more evidence may be needed to further reduce the uncertainty in these comparative projections.

Use of diagnostic tests and procedures for disease-modifying therapy users and non-disease-modifying therapy users with multiple sclerosis.
Kavita V. Nair,John R. Corboy,Kristijan H. Kahler,Richard R. Allen,Vahram Ghushcyan,Robert Brett McQueen,Jacci Bainbridge,Homa B. Dastani,Nikita Mody-Patel +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, the use of 23 diagnostic procedures and monitoring tests for users of DMT and non-DMT users with multiple sclerosis (MS) was examined, and Logistic regression models were used to estimate differences in rates and proportion of patients receiving procedures and tests between cohorts.

Understanding barriers to medication adherence in the hypertensive population by evaluating responses to a telephone survey
Kavita V. Nair,Daniel A. Belletti,Joseph J. Doyle,Richard R. Allen,Robert Brett McQueen,Joseph J. Saseen,Joseph P. Vande Griend,Jay V Patel,Angela McQueen,Saira Jan +9 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate that events interfering with daily routine had a significant impact on adherence, and providers should assess patients’ daily schedules and medication-taking competency to develop and promote a medication routine.
