Generalized Entity Network Translation provides new state of the art methodology for extending RKI techniques into a truly generalized framework capable of operating at exceptional levels of authenticity without the need for roots, certificate authorities, or other static points in an infrastructure. More astounding is its ability to create trusted authentic entity relationships that require no externally stored state outside of the shared context between discrete peers. The present invention provides, among other things, novel improvements to blockchain-derived systems and provides strong proof of ownership, renewal, roll-backs, and localized state and many blockchain systems more palatable choices for system integration.

Generalized entity network translation (gent)

A method and system for supporting multiple digital certificate status information providers are disclosed. An initial service request is prepared at a proxy system client module and sent to a proxy system service module operating at a proxy system. The proxy system prepares multiple service requests and sends the service requests to respective multiple digital certificate status information providers. One of the responses to the service requests received from the status information providers is selected, and a response to the initial service request is prepared and returned to the proxy system client module based on the selected response.

System and method for supporting multiple certificate status providers on a mobile communication device

Sensor networks, usually built with a large number of small, low-cost sensor devices, are characterized by their large-scale and unattended deployment that invites many critical attacks, thereby necessitating high-level security support for their intended applications and services. However, making sensor networks secure is challenging due mainly to the fact that sensors are battery-powered and it is often very difficult to change or recharge their batteries. To address this challenge, we design, develop and evaluate Lightweight S ecurity Protocols (LiSP) that cooperatively build a unified, energy-efficient security framework for sensor networks. 
We present two (group-based and distributed) key management/sharing schemes that are tailored to local and remote transactions, respectively. While the group-based scheme achieves efficient and robust re-keying via key broadcasting/authentication/recovery, distributed key sharing enables the development of attack-tolerant routing protocols capable of gracefully resisting device compromises as well as replacing resource-expensive, public-key-cipher-based protocols with a purely symmetric-cipher-based alternative. 
The problem of attack-tolerance is further investigated for the development of a secure localization protocol. The proposed protocol uses mutual collaboration among sensors to achieve high-level attack-tolerance in terms of detecting/identifying/rejecting sources of attacks, if present. Accordingly, it plays the role of an anomaly-based intrusion detection system tailored to localization that safeguards the network from localization-targeted attacks. 
As a countermeasure against physically tampering with sensors, we develop a novel soft tamper-proofing technique that verifies integrity of the program residing in each sensor device whenever it joins the network, or is suspected to have been compromised. Unlike other techniques unsuitable for low-cost, resource-limited sensors, our technique augments such sensors to be usable for applications that require high-level security. 
Finally, the benefits of our protocols are demonstrated via analysis and evaluation of their capability to defeat known security attacks, and their performance in terms of processing, communication and memory overheads.

Secure communication is critical in military environments where the network infrastructure is vulnerable to various attacks and compromises A conventional centralized solution breaks down when the security servers are destroyed by the enemies In this paper we design and evaluate a security framework for multi-layer ad-hoc wireless networks with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) In battlefields, the framework adapts to the contingent damages on the network infrastructure Depending on the availability of the network infrastructure, our design is composed of two modes In infrastructure mode, security services, specifically the authentication services, are implemented on UAVs that feature low overhead and flexible managements When the UAVs fail or are destroyed, our system seamlessly switches to infrastructureless mode, a backup mechanism that maintains comparable security services among the surviving units In the infrastructureless mode, the security services are localized to each node’s vicinity to comply with the ad-hoc communication mechanism in the scenario We study the instantiation of these two modes and the transitions between them Our implementation and simulation measurements confirm the effectiveness of our design

Adaptive security for multilevel ad hoc networks

A fault-tolerant and secure on-line certification authority uses replication to achieve availability. A client request is forwarded to a delegate server. The delegate forwards the request to all certification servers. After receiving responses from a quorum of certification servers, the delegate sends a client response including a threshold signature protocol to sign the client response. The delegate then forwards the client response to the client.

Secure distributed on-line certification authority

The system and method of the present invention can allow the imbedding of simulation primitives within a conventional programming language in order to use the full capabilities of the conventional programming language and its compiler without modification in the programming of efficient, scalable simulators. The simulation primitives are designed to be preserved through the compilation process, thus allowing a rewriter to modify the compiler's byte code output without accessing the source code. Also, since the rewriter output is a set of class files and a kernel can be written in the conventional programming language, and the system and method of the present invention can execute within a conventional virtual machine associated with the conventional programming language.
