Hypomorphism of Fto and Rpgrip1l causes obesity in mice
George Stratigopoulos,Lisa Cole Burnett,Richard Rausch,Richard Gill,David Barth Penn,Alicja A. Skowronski,Charles A. LeDuc,Anthony J. Lanzano,Pumin Zhang,Daniel R. Storm,Dieter Egli,Rudolph L. Leibel +11 more
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that the effects of FTO-associated SNPs on energy homeostasis are due in part to the results of these genetic variations on hypothalamic FTO, RPGRIP1L, and possibly other genes.
Evaluation of depression risk in LGI1 mutation carriers.
Gary A. Heiman,Kay Kamberakis,Richard Gill,Sergey Kalachikov,Timothy A. Pedley,W. Allen Hauser,Ruth Ottman,Ruth Ottman +7 more
TL;DR: Depression symptoms are studied in families with an identified genetic form of epilepsy: autosomal dominant partial epilepsy with auditory features caused by mutations in the leucine‐rich, glioma inactivated 1 gene (LGI1).

Targeted sequencing of genome wide significant loci associated with bone mineral density (BMD) reveals significant novel and rare variants: the Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) targeted sequencing study.
Yi-Hsiang Hsu,Yi-Hsiang Hsu,Yi-Hsiang Hsu,Guo Li,Ching-Ti Liu,Jennifer A. Brody,David Karasik,David Karasik,Wen-Chi Chou,Serkalem Demissie,Kannabiran Nandakumar,Yanhua Zhou,Chia-Ho Cheng,Richard Gill,Richard A. Gibbs,Donna M. Kiel +26 more
TL;DR: Fine-mapping by targeted sequencing at WLS, MEF2C, ARHGAP1/F2 and JAG1 loci prioritized by eQTL and bioinformatic approaches identified less-common and rare non-coding SNVs associated with BMD independently from GWAS common SNPs, suggesting both common and less- common variants may associate with disease risks and phenotypes in the same loci.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and diabetic foot ulcers: knowledge and attitudes of Canadian primary care physicians.
TL;DR: Primary care physicians have underdeveloped knowledge of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, but their generally positive attitudes toward its use suggest that they might be receptive to educational interventions.

Functional genomic characterization of the FTO locus in African Americans
Richard Gill,Richard Gill,Richard Gill,George Stratigopoulos,Joseph H. Lee,Rudolph L. Leibel +5 more
TL;DR: SNPs in the first intron of the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene represent the strongest genome-wide associations with adiposity and the molecular basis for body mass index disease.
