Opinion mining is considered as a subfield of natural language processing, information retrieval and text mining. Opinion mining is the process of extracting human thoughts and perceptions from unstructured texts, which with regard to the emergence of online social media and mass volume of users’ comments, has become to a useful, attractive and also challenging issue. There are varieties of researches with different trends and approaches in this area, but the lack of a comprehensive study to investigate them from all aspects is tangible. In this paper we represent a complete, multilateral and systematic review of opinion mining and sentiment analysis to classify available methods and compare their advantages and drawbacks, in order to have better understanding of available challenges and solutions to clarify the future direction. For this purpose, we present a proper framework of opinion mining accompanying with its steps and levels and then we completely monitor, classify, summarize and compare proposed techniques for aspect extraction, opinion classification, summary production and evaluation, based on the major validated scientific works. In order to have a better comparison, we also propose some factors in each category, which help to have a better understanding of advantages and disadvantages of different methods.

A survey on classification techniques for opinion mining and sentiment analysis

The entire world is transforming quickly under the present innovations. The Internet has become a basic requirement for everybody with the Web being utilized in every field. With the rapid increase in social network applications, people are using these platforms to voice them their opinions with regard to daily issues. Gathering and analyzing peoples’ reactions toward buying a product, public services, and so on are vital. Sentiment analysis (or opinion mining) is a common dialogue preparing task that aims to discover the sentiments behind opinions in texts on varying subjects. In recent years, researchers in the field of sentiment analysis have been concerned with analyzing opinions on different topics such as movies, commercial products, and daily societal issues. Twitter is an enormously popular microblog on which clients may voice their opinions. Opinion investigation of Twitter data is a field that has been given much attention over the last decade and involves dissecting “tweets” (comments) and the content of these expressions. As such, this paper explores the various sentiment analysis applied to Twitter data and their outcomes.

A Study on Sentiment Analysis Techniques of Twitter Data

The sentiment analysis has gained its importance in recent years. People had improved their way of expressing their opinions about products, services, celebrities, and current topics in internet portals, blogs and social networks. The social network websites like Face book, Twitter, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Hike messenger, providing the users to express their feelings by using the different symbols like smiley’s, funny faces, etc., These social media websites provide a platform to display peoples’ opinions on topics like movies, products, fashion trends, politics, technologies were expressed. The E-Commerce portals like Amazon, Flip Kart, Snap deal etc., help the people to express their opinions on products. A framework is proposed in this work to find the scores of the opinions and derive conclusions. The classification of opinions is called opinion mining, whereas deriving the scores for those opinions are called sentiment analysis. Here the Classification techniques are used for opinion mining and the scores to those opinions are given by taking a scale from –5 to +5.In this work, a movie review data set has been collected from the twitter reviews (http://ai.stanford.edu/~amaas/data/sentiment/) between the years 2003 and 2012. The Word net lexicon dictionary is used to compare the emotions for obtaining the score. In this paper, the proposed improved RBF kernel of SVM-performed with 98.8% of accuracy when compared with the existing SVM-RBF classifier and other models.

Classification of tweets data based on polarity using improved RBF kernel of SVM

Sentiment analysis (SA) of natural language text is an important and challenging task for many applications of Natural Language Processing. Till now, researchers have used different types of SA techniques such as lexicon based and machine learning to perform SA for different languages such as English, Chinese. Inspired by the gain in popularity of deep learning models, we conducted experiments using different configuration settings of convolutional neural network (CNN) and performed SA of Hindi movie reviews collected from online newspapers and Web sites. The dataset has been manually annotated by three native speakers of Hindi to prepare it for training of the model. The experiments are conducted using different numbers of convolution layers with varying number and size of filters. The CNN models are trained on 50% of the dataset and tested on remaining 50% of the dataset. For the movie reviews dataset, the results given by our CNN model are compared with traditional ML algorithms and state-of-the-art results. It has been observed that our model is able to achieve better performance than traditional ML approaches and it has achieved an accuracy of 95%.

Deep Learning Based Sentiment Analysis Using Convolution Neural Network

Analyzing sentiment is a process to identify the opinion of a text. It is also known as opinion mining or emotion Artificial Intelligence (AI). People post comments in social media mentioning their experience about an event and are also interested to know if the majority of other people had a positive or negative experience on the same event. This classification can be achieved using Sentiment Analysis. Sentiment analysis takes unstructured text comments about a product reviews, an event, etc., from all comments posted by different users and classifies the comments into different categories as either positive or negative or neutral opinion. This is also known as polarity classification. Sentimental analysis can be performed by Text analysis and computational linguistics. This work aims at comparing the performance of different machine learning algorithms in performing sentiment analysis of Twitter data. The proposed method uses term frequency to find the sentiment polarity of the sentence. The performance of Multinomial Naive Bayes, SVM and Logistic regression algorithms in sentence classification were compared. From the results, it is inferred that logistic regression has achieved a greatest accuracy when it is used with n-gram and bigram model.

A Comparative Sentiment Analysis Of Sentence Embedding Using Machine Learning Techniques

But, from the last few years, enormous increase has been seen in Hindi language on the Web. Research in opinion mining mostly carried out in English language but it is very important to perform the opinion mining in Hindi language also as large amount of information in Hindi is also available on the Web. It would be better if these reviews are classified into some category so that the user finds it easier to read. But, from the last few years, user content in Hindi language is also increasing at a rapid rate on the Web. So it is very important to perform opinion mining in Hindi language as well. In this paper a Hindi language opinion mining system is proposed. The system classifies the reviews as positive, negative and neutral for Hindi language. Negation is also handled in the proposed system. Experimental results using reviews of movies show the effectiveness of the system.
