A high ankle-brachial index is associated with increased aortic pulse wave velocity: the Czech post-MONICA study
Peter Wohlfahrt,D. Palous,M. Ingrischova,Alena Krajčoviechová,Jitka Seidlerová,M. Galovcova,Jan Bruthans,M. Jozifova,Věra Adámková,Jan Filipovský,Renata Cifkova +10 more
TL;DR: This is the first study showing increased aortic stiffness in individuals with high ABI, presumably responsible for increased left ventricular mass described previously in this group, and these findings suggest increased cardiovascular risk of high A BI individuals.

The role of advanced glycation end products in vascular aging: which parameter is the most suitable as a biomarker?
Otto Mayer,Julius Gelžinský,Jitka Seidlerová,Markéta Mateřánková,Štěpán Mareš,Veronika Svobodová,Ladislav Trefil,Renata Cifkova,Jan Filipovský +8 more
TL;DR: It is found that skin AGEs/sRAGE ratio seems to be a more sensitive biomarker of vascular aging than these single factors themselves or circulation status of A GEs.

Evaluation of the effects of fixed combinations of sustained-release verapamil/trandolapril versus captopril/hydrochlorothiazide on metabolic and electrolyte parameters in patients with essential hypertension
Renata Cifkova,R Nakov,E. Novozámská,Z. Hejl,Petrzílková Z,Rudolf Poledne,Petr Stavek,D Compagnone +7 more
TL;DR: No significant differences were found in ldl-cholesterol and in other lipid parameters with the exception of hdl- cholesterol which was significantly higher on vt and the incidence of adverse events was higher on ch while both fixed combinations significantly lowered bp.

Soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products and increased aortic stiffness in the general population.
Otto Mayer,Jitka Seidlerová,Jan Filipovský,Petra Vágovičová,Peter Wohlfahrt,Renata Cifkova,Jindra Windrichova,Ondřej Topolčan +7 more
TL;DR: Low circulating sRAGE was independently associated with increased arterial stiffness in a general population-based sample, but this was only observed in hypertensive non-diabetic patients.
