Stereotactic radiosurgery for cerebellar arteriovenous malformations: an international multicenter study
Or Cohen-Inbar,Robert M. Starke,Robert M. Starke,Hideyuki Kano,Gregory Bowden,Paul P. Huang,Rafael Rodriguez-Mercado,Luis Almodovar,Inga S. Grills,David Mathieu,Danilo Silva,Mahmoud Abbassy,Symeon Missios,John Y K Lee,Gene H. Barnett,Douglas Kondziolka,L. Dade Lunsford,Jason P. Sheehan +17 more
TL;DR: SRS results in successful obliteration and a favorable outcome in the majority of patients with cerebellar AVMs, and most patients will require a nidus dose of higher than 18 Gy to achieve these goals.

Acute neuronal injury and blood genomic profiles in a nonhuman primate model for ischemic stroke.
Rafael Rodriguez-Mercado,Gregory D. Ford,Zhenfeng Xu,Edmundo Kraiselburd,Melween I. Martínez,Vesna A. Eterovic,Edgar Colon,Idia V. Rodríguez,Peter Portilla,Pedro A. Ferchmin,Lynette Gierbolini,Maria Rodriguez-Carrasquillo,Michael D Powell,John V.K. Pulliam,Casey O McCraw,Alicia Gates,Byron D. Ford +16 more
TL;DR: This NHP stroke model likely will facilitate the elucidation of mechanisms associated with acute neuronal injury after ischemia, and may prompt the development of new strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic stroke in humans.
Stereotactic radiosurgery with versus without prior Onyx embolization for brain arteriovenous malformations.
Ching-Jen Chen,Dale Ding,Cheng-Chia Lee,Kathryn N. Kearns,I. Jonathan Pomeraniec,Christopher P. Cifarelli,David E. Arsanious,Roman Liscak,Jaromir Hanuska,Brian J. Williams,Mehran Yusuf,Shiao Y. Woo,Natasha Ironside,Rebecca M. Burke,Ronald E Warnick,Daniel M. Trifiletti,David Mathieu,Monica Mureb,Carolina Benjamin,Douglas Kondziolka,Caleb E Feliciano,Rafael Rodriguez-Mercado,Kevin M. Cockroft,Scott D. Simon,Heath B. Mackley,Samer G. Zammar,Neel T. Patel,Varun Padmanaban,Nathan Beatson,Anissa Saylany,John Y K Lee,Jason P. Sheehan +31 more
TL;DR: Pre-SRS AVM embolization with Onyx does not appear to negatively influence outcomes after SRS, and this neoadjuvant intervention should be used judiciously in multimodal treatment strategies involving SRS for appropriately selected large-volume or angioarchitecturally high-risk AVMs.
The fate of cranial neuropathy after flow diversion for carotid aneurysms.
Benjamin L. Brown,Demetrius K. Lopes,David A. Miller,Rabih G. Tawk,Leonardo B.C. Brasiliense,Andrew J. Ringer,Eric Sauvageau,Ciaran J. Powers,Adam S Arthur,Daniel Hoit,Kenneth V. Snyder,Adnan H. Siddiqui,Elad I. Levy,L. Nelson Hopkins,Hugo Cuellar,Rafael Rodriguez-Mercado,Erol Veznedaroglu,Mandy J. Binning,J Mocco,Pedro Aguilar-Salinas,Alan S. Boulos,Junichi Yamamoto,Ricardo A. Hanel +22 more
TL;DR: Lower morbidity and higher occlusion rates obtained with the PED may suggest it as treatment of choice for some of these lesions, and time to treatment is an important consideration regardless of treatment modality.
Stereotactic radiosurgery for Spetzler-Martin Grade IV and V arteriovenous malformations: an international multicenter study.
Mohana Rao Patibandla,Dale Ding,Hideyuki Kano,Zhiyuan Xu,John Y K Lee,David Mathieu,Jamie Whitesell,John T. Pierce,Paul P. Huang,Douglas Kondziolka,Caleb E Feliciano,Rafael Rodriguez-Mercado,Luis Almodovar,Inga S. Grills,Danilo Silva,Mahmoud Abbassy,Symeon Missios,Gene H. Barnett,L. Dade Lunsford,Jason P. Sheehan +19 more
TL;DR: Stereotactic radiosurgery provided better outcomes for patients with small, unrupturedSM Grade III AVMs than for large or ruptured SM Grade III nidi, and a prospective trial or registry that facilitates a comparison of SRS with conservative AVM management might further clarify the authors' observations.
