The study includes phytochemical screening and quantification of primary and secondary metabolites like chlorophyll, carbohydrates, protein, lipids, phenol, tannin and flavonoids from Acacia arabica bark. For these purpose aqueous extract of bark was prepared by “Soxhlet extraction method”. The result of these study suggests that the Acacia arabica bark in which presence of primary and secondary metabolites.

Taxillus cuneatus (Roth.) Danser, an evergreen hemi-parasitic flowering plant belongs to the family Loranthaceae growing on Spondias pinnata (L.f.) Kurz was collected from Western Ghats of Karnataka and subjected for qualitative phytochemical analysis, antibacterial and antioxidant activity. In the present study, T. cuneatus was subjected for phytochemical analysis in different solvent extracts which revealed the presence of reducing compounds, alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, sterols, terpenoids, cardiac glycosides, glycosides, carbohydrates and absence of anthraquinones, proteins and amino acids. The methanolic extract of the plant showed total phenolic content of about 33 μg of GAE in 100 g of plant extract. Antioxidant and reducing power activities of methanol extract revealed dose dependent activity, which increased with increase in the concentration of the extract. Ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts exhibited moderate antibacterial activity against the tested bacterial pathogens. The present investigation has thrown a light on the effect of parasitic plant T. cuneatus on antioxidant and antibacterial activities, so it can be further subjected for purification of compounds which may act as an alternative for the present synthetic compounds which are used as pharmaceuticals.

In conformity with the international trend to substitute the artificial agro-chemicals by natural products to improve growth and productivity of crops, there is a necessity to focus on the environment sustainable and eco-friendly resources to increase crops productivity per unit area. One of these resources is the use of biostimulants. The aim of this study is to allow the vertical expansion of wheat crop by improving its growth and productivity per unit area as well as enhancing its grain quality using henna leaf extract as a biostimulant.Field study was conducted to evaluate the potentiality of different doses of henna leaf extract (HLE) for improving the performance of wheat plants (Triticum aestivum L.) at three development stages. Results revealed that the response was dose dependent hence both 0.5 and 1.0 g/L doses significantly enhanced the growth of shoot and root systems, biochemical traits, yield and yield related components with being 1.0 g/L the most effective one. Furthermore, 1.0 g/L HLE markedly enhanced the quality of the yielded grains as revealed by increasing the content of soluble sugars (23%), starch (19%), gluten (50%), soluble proteins (37%), amylase activity (27%), total phenolics, flavonoids and tannins (67, 87 and 23%, respectively) as well as some elements including Ca (184%), Na and Fe (10%). Also, HPLC analysis of grains revealed that 1.0 g/L dose significantly increased the level of different phytohormones, soluble sugars and flavonoids (quercetin, resveratrol and catechin).Application of Henna (Lawsonia inermis) leaf extract at 1.0 g/L dose as a combination of seed priming and foliar spray can be recommended as a nonpolluting, inexpensive promising biostimulant, it can effectively enhance wheat growth, biochemical traits and productivity as well as improving the quality of the yielded grains.

Objective: The current subject field was carried out to evaluate phytochemical analysis and acute toxicity study of the stem bark of Syzygium cumini . Methods: The ethanol extraction was made by the Soxhlet extraction method. Phytochemical screening was performed by applying standard methods. The oral administration of the drug in treating a group is done by using a curved ball-tipped intubation needle affixed to a 3 ml syringe and animal’s observed from cage side observations. All the animals were anesthetized with ether anesthesia; blood was collected from orbital puncture and analysis was made by standard methods. Several organs were collected by dissecting abdominal, thoracic and cranial cavities and each weighed by using a sensitive electronic balance. Fixation was made with 10% buffered formalin and processed for histological embedding by Carleton's histological techniques. Statistical data analyzed by statistical software Sigma Plot 10. Results: The phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, carbohydrates, sterols and amino acids. The oral acute toxicity study showed no detectable clinical signs of toxicity and mortality during the study period of 14 d. There were no statistically significant alterations in body weights, organ weights, and hematological parameters compared to control group. The microscopic anatomy of the reproductive organs and liver showed normal architecture. Conclusion: The outcome of the study showed that the LD50 of the drug was greater than 5000 mg/kg body weight. The phytochemicals present in stem bark of Syzygium cumini can be employed in the fabrication of innovative medication for several diseases.

The present communication deals with the phytochemical screening studies of leaves and stem of the medicinal plant Andrographis neesiana. Andrographis neesiana is an endemic medicinal plant belonging to the family Acanthaceae. It has been used in traditional medicine to treat antifungal and aphrodisiac. Phytochemical screening of any medicinal importance from Andrographis neesiana. Qualitative analysis of the plant parts the presence of various components of therapeutic importance including tannins, saponins, phenolic compounds, glycosides, flavonoids, gums and mucilases, steroids and triterpenoids and absence of alkaloids, carbohydrates, protein and amino acids have been reported here in this herb for the first time. The experiment carried out in the medicinal plant leaves and stem. The results are discussed with the available literature.
