Developing conductive inks for printed electronics has gained increasing interest in recent years as a low-cost and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional organic metal-based inks. This study aims to investigate the influence of silver nitrate (AgNO3) concentration at different temperatures and the effect of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) surfactant concentration on the properties of the colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) conductive inks. In this study, water-based AgNPs were prepared using a chemical reduction method. The effect of AgNO3 concentration, the reaction temperature, and the amount of PVP as a stabilizing agent on the size, shape, and purity of the synthesized AgNPs was investigated. The stability, thermal characteristics, and functional groups of the water-based AgNPs were also evaluated. The printed AgNPs patterns were examined for morphological and electrical properties. Results indicated that the concentration of AgNO3 and reaction temperature influence the size of AgNPs particles and their clustering. A high concentration of AgNO3 results in a higher yield of AgNPs and subsequently increases the electrical conductivity to 2.69×10° S/m. Adding PVP improves the stability of AgNPs for up to 45 days. Therefore, the development of water-based colloidal AgNPs conductive ink in this study can be used in inkjet printing to fabricate environmentally friendly printed electronics. 

Stability and conductivity of water-based colloidal silver nanoparticles conductive inks for sustainable printed electronics

Nanoscience is a rapidly growing science stream that has been one of the cost-effective and energy-efficient approaches with wide applications. Water pollution is a major issue that is increasing continuously due to anthropogenic activities and several organic and inorganic contaminants. To overcome this issue, nanoparticles (NPs) have been successfully used to treat water. These NPs possess many beneficial applications in many fields like agriculture, cosmetics, photoconductors, environmental biotechnology, glass and alloy production, solar cells, nanomedicine and drug deliveries, biosensors, food industries, etc. The properties comprising high surface area, greater chemical reactivity, and mechanical properties play a vital role in imparting such beneficiary properties. As a result, there has been an increasing demand for the synthesis of NPs. However, excess usage of NPs further creates toxic by-products. Therefore, scientists and researchers are now focussing on the biogenic synthesis of NPs. The biological routes of NP synthesis have been crucial because they are eco-friendly and environmentally safe. This chapter highlights the usage of different approaches and biogenic sources for the production of NPs. It also discusses the recent advancement in the use of biogenic NPs with respect to applications for wastewater treatment.

Synthesis and Catalytic Applications of Silver Nanoparticles: A Sustainable Chemical Approach using Indigenous Reducing and Capping Agents from Hyptis capitata

Introduction and Aim: The reproductive aging and the menopausal transition is a period of life in females which is well associated with several changes in the adipose tissue and the hormones. Little is known about the circulating levels of adiponectin and the status of the reproductive age. The aim of the study was to understand whether these transition changes affect the levels of adiponectin in the blood and the BMI. 
  
Materials and Methods: This was a cross sectional study with 73 diabetic females matched with 106 nondiabetic females. The subjects were between the age of 30-60 years. Serum adiponectin levels were estimated using precoated ELISA technique and BMI was calculated. 
  
Results: The study subjects showed age matched distribution. BMI showed significant difference between normal and diabetic subjects but failed to hold the significant difference when grouped based on their reproductive transition. Adiponectin failed to show any significant difference between diabetic and normal subjects, but adiponectin levels differed well with the reproductive group in diabetics only (p=0.008) and in normal subjects the difference was not statistically significant (p=0.07). 
  
Conclusion: This study does not hold up changes in BMI because of a transition in reproductive age and this causes a change in levels of adiponectin. However, the effect of diabetes on adiponectin level seems to be valid. The variation in the level of adiponectin is because of diabetes in the menopause state.  Further the adiponectin and BMI did not show any significant difference between the age groups which shows that age is not a contributing factor for changes in BMI and levels of adiponectin.

Exploring the relationship between adiponectin and reproductive transition among diabetic and non-diabetic women

Application of wide range of pharmaceuticals is a serious threat to the environment causing a significant deterioration of aquatic faunal health as well as its survival status. The widespread detection of various types of drugs (antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, beta-blockers, etc.) present in the aquatic ecosystem directly works on physiological parameters at different levels of aquatic organisms especially the bioindicators, fishes. The experiment was carried out to evaluate the exposure of sub lethal concentration of hydrocortisone on oxygen consumption, gill movement, haematological and percentage of bone calcium of the freshwater fish, Anabas testudineus . When compared to control, the exposed fishes exhibit significant alterations in their physiological activity. The rate of oxygen consumption is indirectly proportional to dosage concentration as well as exposure time. Both the rate of gill movement and oxygen consumption were decreased with increasing concentration of hydrocortisone. Under exposure, the marked decline was recorded in both RBCs and Hb count when compared to control (P &lt; .05). The percentage of bone calcium level was significantly decreased by the toxicity of hydrocortisone. The current study stipulates that the exposure of sub lethal concentration of hydrocortisone on Anabas testudineus alters the physiological and hematological parameters. From the results, it is noteworthy that the steroid drug, hydrocortisone even at low concentrations causes deteriorative impacts on the health conditions of aquatic organism. Assessment of Sub Lethal Toxicity of Hydrocortisone (C21H30O5): Physiological and Hematological Biomarker Reactions on Anabas Testudineus

The categorisation of gender into femininity and masculinity is purely a social construct. Advertising is a social institution which plays a significant role in the promotion of notions of gender identities at a symbolic level (Gilbert and Taylor, 1991). The purpose of this study is to understand the manifestation of masculinity and femininity in contemporary Indian print advertisements of popular Fast Moving Consumer Goods(FMCG). This study uses the theory of visual social semiotics for the analysis adopting the framework propounded by Gunther Kress and Theo Van Leeuwen (1996;2006). The representational and interactive dimensions from the framework will be used for the analysis of the advertisements. This will be further thematised to understand the nature of the representation of masculinity and femininity in them. It will also provide an insight into the relationship between the viewers and participants of these advertisements. The data for the current study includes three popular Indian magazine advertisements of FMCG products published between the years 2019-2020, selected using a purposive sampling technique.
