TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison between open vs laparoscopic splenectomies was performed in stable patients with splenic trauma, showing that laparoscopy was associated with a higher incidence of concomitant surgical procedures (p 0.016), longer operative times, but a significantly faster return of bowel function and oral diet.
Laparoscopic management of adhesive small bowel obstruction with strangulation: when to resect and how to distinguish reversible from nonreversible bowel ischaemia - a video vignette.
TL;DR: In the United States, more than 350,000 adhesiolysis operations are performed annually, resulting in more than 960,000 days of care and $2.3 billion in healthcare costs.
