Die normale Entwicklung der Meduse vonPodocoryne carnea M.Sars wird aufgrund morphologischer und anatomischer Kriterien in insgesamt 10 Differenzierungsstadien unterteilt.

Medusenknospen, die fruhzeitig vom Blastostyl isoliert werden, sind lebensfahig und vollbringen verschiedene Entwicklungsleistungen, deren Art und Haufigkeit vom Entwicklungsalter der Knospe im Moment der Isolation abhangig sind.

Junge Medusenknospen der Stadien 1–4 sind nach Isolation einem Dedifferenzierungsprozes unterworfen, der zu einem sog. „Kugelstadium“ fuhrt. Aus diesem morphogenetisch indifferenten Stadium konnen Stolonen und aus diesen wiederum Nahrpolypen entstehen. Dieser von jungen Medusenknospen ausgehende Strukturwandel kann als Metaplasie bezeichnet werden.

Altere, in den Stadien 5–8 isolierte Medusenknospen entwickeln sich in der Regel zu Medusen oder medusenahnlichen Gebilden weiter. Der kritische Zeitpunkt, in welchem die Entwicklungsrichtung der Meduse irreversibel festgelegt wird und von dem aus die Differenzierung der Meduse autonom erfolgen kann, liegt zwischen den Entwicklungsstadien 4 und 5.

Zellreaggregate, die durch Dissoziation voll ausdifferenzierter Medusen gewonnen wurden, bildeten in wenigen Fallen Stolonen und stolonenahnliche Gebilde. Dies bedeutet, das wenigstens ein Teil der die Meduse aufbauenden Zellen die Fahigkeit zur funktionellen und strukturellen Metaplasie nicht irreversibel verloren hat.




6.

Samtliche im Verlaufe dieser Untersuchungen beobachteten Strukturwandlungen fuhrten uber den als niedrigste Realisationsstufe zu bezeichnenden Zustand des Stolo, aus dem unter gunstigen Voraussetzungen die nachsthoheren Stufen (Frespolypen, Blastostyle) hervorgehen konnen.

While it is known that anorexia nervosa patients show a wide range of sexual knowledge, attitudes and practices, the psychosexual histories of bulimia patients have not been studied. In this paper the psychosexual histories of 20 bulimic patients and 20 matched control subjects are presented. Bulimic patients were more likely to experience orgasm with masturbation, were more likely to have experimented with anal intercourse, and were more likely to describe their libido as 'above average.' Control subjects were more likely to experience orgasm during sexual intercourse. Bulimic patients associated high body weights with unattractiveness, and tended to withdraw from social and sexual activity at high weights. In other aspects of their sexual behaviour, and in their attitudes to sexual matters, the two groups were similar.

The Psychosexual Histories of Young Women with Bulimia

A number of researchers have found that girls tend to prefer the masculine role more than boys prefer the feminine, particularly at the kindergarten age. Several such studies have used the It Scale for Children (ITSC) although some more recent work has questioned these researches on methodological grounds, claiming that the IT figure seems to be seen as male by most children. To test this methodological point and the hypothesis that boys today have greater preference for the feminine role than girls do for the masculine, we individually administered the ITSC to 36 kindergarten children from middle-class homes, 20 boys and 16 girls, with the IT figure concealed in an envelope. During a later testing session, the ITSC was administered in the standard fashion. The data confirmed our hypothesis about the boys' and girls' preferences for roles but did not support the view that the IT figure is seen as male by most children at this age.
