Application of dust control method based on water medium humidification in tunnel drilling and blasting construction environment

Liquid and hydrate blockages often occur in natural gas pipelines, reducing pipeline transportation efficiency. When blockages completely occupy the pipeline, major production and safety accidents can occur, such as production shutdowns and overpressure damage. This study comprehensively describes in detail the technical principles and characteristics of 12 natural gas pipeline blockage detection methods and lists the challenges they face in practical applications. Moreover, common techniques for eliminating blockages in gas pipelines are presented. Then, whether the different detection techniques can realize the five functions of blockage quantity, blockage location, blockage length, blockage area, and continuous detection is theoretically discussed. Furthermore, the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of different detection techniques are evaluated from six aspects: detection speed, accuracy, adaptability, anti-interference, impact on pipeline operation, need for historical information, and cost. Transient wave reflection and inverse transient analysis methods deserve more studies in this field. Finally, recommendations for future work are presented based on five aspects: morphology and number of blockages, acquisition of initial pipeline parameters, remote detection, signal processing, and blockage media. This study serves as a useful tool for gaining insights into recent advances in natural gas pipeline blockage detection methods.

The blockage of natural gas pipelines caused by solid deposits such as hydrates is one of the major safety risks to transmission pipeline systems. The key to effective blockage relief or removal is to determine the location and severity of the blockage. In recent years, the pressure pulse wave method has been considered as a practical detection method due to its fast response time, simplicity of operation, and extended detection distance. Nevertheless, the current implementation of this method in pipelines indicates that the accuracy in detecting blockages is very low. To improve the accuracy of the pressure wave blockage detection technique in our experiments, a series of experiments were carried out to detect and locate hydrate blockages in natural gas pipelines based on the pressure wave method using a separate pipeline system of 22 mm diameter and 106 m length. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the blockage location prediction based on the pressure pulse wave method is within 5%. Still, the blockage’s cross-sectional shape can significantly affect the intensity of the reflected wave, with a maximum prediction error of 35%. 

Experimental Investigation of Gas Transmission Pipeline Blockage Detection Based on Dynamic Pressure Method

Abstract In the process of coal mining and transportation, it is inevitable to produce a large number of coal powder, which has many adverse effects, causing pneumoconiosis and even explosion, bringing huge hidden dangers to the safety of people's lives and property. In order to reduce the occurrence of this kind of engineering disaster, surfactant is often used for wetting and dust reduction. In this study, the coal powder of the left 2 working face at No.65 layer in Xinxing Coal Mine is taken as the object, and four kinds of surfactants are used to study the osmotic effect. The comparative analysis is carried out from the penetration forms, the change of contact angle, and the unit cost. The method of selecting reagents under different engineering conditions and requirements is obtained, which provides an effective way for reduction of coal powder in coal mine, and has a certain reference value.

Configuration and Selection of Surfactant for Coal Powder in Xinxing Coal Mine

It is hard to control roadways effectively with a heightened burst risk using conventional support techniques, which may cause burst fatalities in the coal mine. Thus, an in-situ modification method, which involves artificially constructing a cracked zone and a reinforced zone, was proposed to improve the stability of the roadways with heightened burst risk. This paper investigated the efficiency to non of the in-situ modification method in improving burstroadway safety by performing a physical experiment. The results of the experiment indicated that the dynamic stress was obviously reduced in the modified roadway. Accordingly, the influence factors of the in-situ modification method were explored using numerical simulation. It was found that the thickness and the degree of damage to the cracked zone were key governing factors in reducing energy and improving roadway stability. The energy dissipation value increased as the thickness and the degree of damage to the cracked zone increased but showed a slower growth trend when the thickness and the degree of damage to the cracked zone increased to a certain value. In addition, the high sensitivity to dynamic load was found in parts of the roadway side exhibiting a larger stress reduction rate even with thinner cracked zone thickness and a lower degree of damage. This research provides an effective and economical method for coal roadways with heightened burst risk.
