Prediction of Fuhrman nuclear grade for clear cell renal carcinoma by a multi-information fusion model that incorporates CT-based features of tumor and serum tumor associated material.

BackgroundClear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is corelated with tumor-associated material (TAM), coagulation system and adipocyte tissue, but the relationships between them have been inconsistent. Our study aimed to explore the cut-off intervals of variables that are non-linearly related to ccRCC pathological T stage for providing clues to understand these discrepancies, and to effectively preoperative risk stratification.MethodsThis retrospective analysis included 218 ccRCC patients with a clear pathological T stage between January 1st, 2014, and November 30th, 2021. The patients were categorized into two cohorts based on their pathological T stage: low T stage (T1 and T2) and high T stage (T3 and T4). Abdominal and perirenal fat variables were measured based on preoperative CT images. Blood biochemical indexes from the last time before surgery were also collected. The generalized sum model was used to identify cut-off intervals for nonlinear variables.ResultsIn specific intervals, fibrinogen levels (FIB) (2.63–4.06 g/L) and platelet (PLT) counts (>200.34 × 109/L) were significantly positively correlated with T stage, while PLT counts (<200.34 × 109/L) were significantly negatively correlated with T stage. Additionally, tumor-associated material exhibited varying degrees of positive correlation with T stage at different cut-off intervals (cut-off value: 90.556 U/mL).ConclusionPreoperative PLT, FIB and TAM are nonlinearly related to pathological T stage. This study is the first to provide specific cut-off intervals for preoperative variables that are nonlinearly related to ccRCC T stage. These intervals can aid in the risk stratification of ccRCC patients before surgery, allowing for developing a more personalized treatment planning. 

Association between CT-based adipose variables, preoperative blood biochemical indicators and pathological T stage of clear cell renal cell carcinoma

Parry-Romberg Syndrome (PRS) is a rare neurocutaneous disorder characterized by gradual facial hemiatrophy. We present a case study of a 64-year-old woman with late-onset PRS and linear scleroderma. The patient exhibited atypical PRS symptoms including leg numbness, hyper-reflexia, trigeminal neuralgia, and severe headaches. Diagnostic evaluations revealed chronic left-sided cerebral infarction, microhemorrhages, and nerve involvement. Treatment options for PRS are limited and aim to manage symptoms. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges of late-onset PRS, emphasizing interdisciplinary approach. Further research and improved therapies are essential for better patient outcomes. 

Late-onset Parry-Romberg Syndrome with atypical neurological manifestations: A case report

Aim. Analyse the diabetes mellitus (DM) of a person through the facial skin region using vision diabetology. Diabetes mellitus is caused by persistent high blood glucose levels and related complications, which show variation in facial skin regions due to reduced blood flow in the facial arteries. Materials and Method. In this study, 200 facial images of diabetes patients with skin conditions such as Bell’s palsy, rubeosis faciei, scleroderma, and vitiligo were collected from existing face videos. Moreover, face images are collected from diabetic persons in India. Viola Jones’ face-detecting algorithm extracts face skin regions from a diabetic person’s face image in video frames. The affected skin area on the diabetic person’s face is detected using HSV colour model segmentation. The proposed multiwavelet transform convolutional neural network (MWTCNN) extracts the features for diabetic measurement from up- and downfacial scaled images of diabetic persons. Results. The existing deep learning models are compared with the proposed MWTCNN model, which provides the highest accuracy of 98.3%. Conclusion. The facial skin region-based diabetic measurement avoids pricking of the serum and is used for continuous glucose monitoring. 

Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Measurement Using Human Face Skin Region

ABSTRACT Clear cell renal carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common histological type of renal cancer and has the highest mortality. Several studies have been conducted on the relationship between adipose tissue and ccRCC prognosis, however, the results have been inconsistent to date. The current study aimed at establishing a link between abdominal fat composition and short-term prognosis in patients with ccRCC after T-stage stratification. We retrospectively analysed 250 patients with pathologically confirmed ccRCC (173 low T-stage and 77 high T-stage) in our hospital. The computed tomography (CT) images were evaluated using ImageJ. Then, subcutaneous and visceral fat areas (SFA and VFA), total fat areas (TFA) and the relative VFA (rVFA) were measured and computed. Meanwhile, biochemical indices of blood serum were analysed. The results showed that rVFA in low T-stage cohort who had a history of short-term postoperative complications were significantly lower than those who did not. No such association was observed in the high T-stage cohort. Further investigation revealed that the correlations between biochemical indexes and fat area-related variables varied across T-stage groups. As a result, rVFA is a reliable independent predictor of short-term prognosis in patients with low T-stage ccRCC but not in patients with high T-stage ccRCC.

T-stage-specific abdominal visceral fat, haematological nutrition indicators and inflammation as prognostic factors in patients with clear renal cell carcinoma

Linear scleroderma of the head and face is a rare connective tissue disorder characterized by linear depressed scarring in the frontoparietal area of the face. Here, we report a patient with linear scleroderma of the head and face with neurological symptoms such as spontaneous epilepsy and numbness of the right limb as well as the presence of white matter lesions. The patient underwent computed tomography and 3.0-T magnetic resonance examinations including diffusion weighted imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, and perfusion imaging. The imaging findings suggested a disrupted fiber tract and decreased relative cerebral blood flow. Our observation may help to improve the diagnosis and treatment of linear scleroderma of the head and face.
