Since their introduction in the early 2000s, the use of social networking websites has exploded. Many businesses are seeing increased revenue due to their social commerce strategy. Despite the popularity of social commerce websites, some consumers are still hesitate to use them. This study aims to evaluate the factors that influence the adoption of social commerce. A sample of 721 Chinese We Chat users took part in the research. The findings reveal that social capital mediates the positive effect of social commerce adoption and perceived ease of use (PERU) on techno-stress and online impulse purchasing. Likewise, information overloading mediates the positive effect of social commerce adoption and PERU on techno-stress and online impulse purchasing. The findings have implications for both practice and research in understanding social commerce adoption in emerging economies.

Determinants of Social Commerce Usage and Online Impulse Purchase: Implications for Business and Digital Revolution

ABSTRACT e-Commerce is the fastest-growing sales channel, while omni-channel retailing is becoming the new retailing standard. Omni-channel logistics is an essential complex aspect of omni-channel retailing, especially considering the increased consumer demand for seamless shopping experiences. This systematic literature review aims to synthesize the contemporary e-commerce logistics literature and to develop a logistics decision framework. This review shows how the focus of e-commerce logistics literature has evolved to multi-channel logistics, and lately to omni-channel logistics. The recent boom in omni-channel logistics publications highlights the importance of logistics in omni-channel retailing with increased complexity and a myriad of logistics design options. An omni-channel logistics decision framework covering 43 decision elements within supply and internal distribution, last mile consumer steering, last mile back-end fulfilment, last mile delivery, and reverse logistics is created by synthesizing 373 articles. This review identifies research opportunities and encourages researchers to complement existing narrower studies with broader empirical studies focusing on the elements’ interplay, and configuration studies associated with firm performance. The framework and future research avenues support retail executives in designing logistics, in decision-making and in developing strategies.

A systematic literature review on e-commerce logistics: towards an e-commerce and omni-channel decision framework

This empirical research study aimed to examine factors influencing consumer’s behavioral intentions to purchase products via live-streaming services. This study proposed four key factors, namely customer perception, marketing mix, content marketing, and influencer, and tested their relationships with the perceived value and attitude through consumer’s behavior. At the same time, the path analysis of the perceived value and attitude was conducted to reveal the relationships with consumer’s behavioral intentions through consumer’s online purchase intention. The proposed theoretical model comprised relevant variables developed from the current literature on digital marketing disciplines under three theoretical strands, where the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) was established as the main theory. The study tested the structural model using cross-sectional data. Purposive sampling was used to administer a questionnaire to 198 participants who had experience with livestreaming online shopping, and the data was analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach and regression analysis. The findings showed that customer perception and marketing mix had significant positive impacts on perceived value. Content marketing and influencer marketing also had positive relationships with consumer’s attitudes. Moreover, consumer’s perceived value and attitudes influenced their behavior and actions. These results reaffirmed the positive role of consumer’s behavioral intentions in their online purchase intentions.

Factors Influencing the Behavioral and Purchase Intention on Live-streaming Shopping

We recently observe that some giant e-tailers (e.g., Amazon and JD.com) introduce marketplace channels by allowing third-party sellers to sell products through their platforms. Logistics service acts as a vital role in the operation of online platforms. In practice, the platform can outsource logistics service to third-party logistics providers (named as a third-party logistics strategy) or establish a self-run logistics network to distribute products (named as a self-run logistics strategy). This paper investigates the e-tailer's logistics service strategy in the presence of the marketplace channel's introduction. We reveal that the cost of logistics service plays a major role in determining the optimal logistics strategy. The self-run logistics strategy provides a low logistics service cost to the platform, which results in a higher consumer surplus in comparison with the third-party logistics strategy. Further, we find that when the logistics service cost is low, the platform prefers to establish self-run logistics in the presence of the marketplace channel. Finally, our results show that under the third-party logistics strategy, the platform benefits from the marketplace channel in the presence of an intermediate commission fee and a low discount factor. Based on game-theoretic models, some managerial insights are suggested for online retailers to choose the optimal logistics service strategy in the presence of introducing the marketplace channel.
