Application of microchip assay system for the measurement of C-reactive protein in human saliva
Nicolaos Christodoulides,Sanghamitra Mohanty,Craig S. Miller,M. Chris Langub,Pierre N. Floriano,Priya Dharshan,Mehnaaz F. Ali,Bruce Bernard,Dwight K. Romanovicz,Eric V. Anslyn,Philip C. Fox,John T. McDevitt +11 more
TL;DR: The objective of this study was to apply an ultra-sensitive microchip assay system for the measurement of CRP in human saliva to provide direct experimental evidence that chronic periodontal disease may be associated with higher levels of salivary CRP.

Lab-on-a-Chip Methods for Point-of-Care Measurements of Salivary Biomarkers of Periodontitis
Nicolaos Christodoulides,Pierre N. Floriano,Craig S. Miller,Jeffrey L. Ebersole,Sanghamitra Mohanty,Priya Dharshan,Michael J. Griffin,Alexis Lennart,Karri Ballard,Charles P. King,M. Chris Langub,M. Chris Langub,Richard J. Kryscio,Mark V. Thomas,John T. McDevitt +14 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates that the results achieved by the LOC approach are in agreement with those acquired with standard enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), with significant IL‐1β and MMP‐8 elevations in whole saliva of periodontitis patients.

Disposable polydimethylsiloxane/silicon hybrid chips for protein detection.
Shifeng Li,Pierre N. Floriano,Nicolaos Christodoulides,David Y. Fozdar,Dongbing Shao,Mehnaaz F. Ali,Priya Dharshan,Sanghamitra Mohanty,Dean P. Neikirk,John T. McDevitt,Shaochen Chen +10 more
TL;DR: An established bead-based fluorescent assay for C-reactive protein (CRP) was used here to characterize these hybrid chips, and the detection limit of the single-chamber protein chip was found to be 1 ng/ml.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a bead-based fluorescent assay for C-reactive protein (CRP) to characterize the detection limit of the single chamber protein chip was found to be 1ng/mL and using the back pressure compensation method, the signals from each of the four-chamber chip were within 10% of each other.
Use of Saliva-Based Nano-Biochip Tests for Acute Myocardial Infarction at the Point of Care: A Feasibility Study
Pierre N. Floriano,Nicolaos Christodoulides,Craig S. Miller,Jeffrey L. Ebersole,John A. Spertus,Beate G. Rose,Denis F. Kinane,M. John Novak,Steven R. Steinhubl,Shelley Acosta,Sanghamitra Mohanty,Priya Dharshan,Chih Ko Yeh,Spencer W. Redding,Wieslaw B. Furmaga,John T. McDevitt +15 more
TL;DR: Complementary to ECG, saliva-based tests within lab-on-a-chip systems may provide a convenient and rapid screening method for cardiac events in prehospital stages for AMI patients.
