Target spot of soybean has spread in Brazil, the southeastern United States and Argentina in the last decade. A collaborative network of field Uniform Fungicide Trials (UFT) in Brazil was created in 2011 to study the target spot control efficacy of fungicides, including azoxystrobin + benzovindiflupyr (AZ_BF), carbendazim (CZM), fluxapyroxad + pyraclostrobin (FLUX_PYRA), epoxiconazole + FLUX_PYRA (EPO_FLUX_PYRA), mancozeb (MZB) and prothioconazole + trifloxystrobin (PROT_TRIF). Network meta‐analysis was used to conduct a quantitative synthesis of UFT data collected from 2012 to 2016 and to evaluate the effects of disease pressure (DP, low ≤ 35% target spot severity in the nontreated control < high) and year of experiment on the overall mean efficacy and yield response to each of the tested fungicides. Based on mean percentage control of target spot severity, the tested fungicides fall into three efficacy groups (EG): high EG, FLUX_PYRA (76.2% control relative to the nontreated control) and EPO_FLUX_PYRA (75.7% control); intermediate EG, PROT_TRIF (66.5% control) and low EG, MZB (49.6% control), AZ_BF (46.7% control) and CZM (32.4% control). DP had a significant effect on yield response. At DPLₒw, the highest response was due to PROT_TRIF (+342 kg ha⁻¹, +12.8%) and EPO_FLUX_PYRA (+295.5 kg ha⁻¹, +11.2%), whereas at DPHᵢgₕ, EPO_FLUX_PYRA and FLUX_PYRA outperformed the other treatments, with yield responses of 503 kg ha⁻¹ (+20.2%) and 469 kg ha⁻¹ (+19.1%), respectively. The probability of a positive return on fungicide investment ranged from 0.26 to 0.56 at DPLₒw and from 0.34 to 0.66 at DPHᵢgₕ.

The fungus Corynespora cassiicola (Berk & MA Curtis), the causal agent of the target spot in soybean, have occurred frequently in the North Central region of Brazil and may, under high temperature and high humidity conditions, cause serious damage to the crop As the use of chemical fungicides is recommended in susceptible cultivars, the objective of this study was to determine the fungicide efficiency in the control of the soybean target spot in the cerrado of Tocantins, Brazil, crop 2014/2015 The experimental design was a randomized block with four replications The treatments were differentiated by plant crop management, with the use of commercial synthetic fungicides applied alone or in combination with each other, plus a control (no application), a total of six different treatments Were determined the area under the disease progress curve, the percentage of defoliation, thousand grains mass and grain yield The application of fungicides promoted lower advance of the target spot in soybean, reduction in defoliation, greater thousand grains mass and higher productivity compared with the control The treatment consists of two sequential applications Pyraclostrobin + Fluxapyroxad reduced by 367% the severity of the disease, as well as lower rate of defoliation of plants, promoting increase in mass of thousand grains and soybeans grain yield

Chemical control of the soybean target spot (Corynespora cassiicola), in the cerrado of Tocantins, Brazil

A mancha-alvo, cujo agente causal e o fungo Corynespora cassiicola vem ganhando importância entre as doencas na cultura da soja, principalmente na regiao de cerrado, em funcao de sua elevada severidade e potencial degenerativo a planta. O controle quimico de doencas das plantas e uma medida que na maioria dos casos e eficiente e economicamente viavel para garantir grandes producoes e qualidade de producao. Objetivou-se nesse trabalho avaliar a eficiencia da mistura de fungicida protetor aplicado em combinacoes com fungicidas sistemicos visando o controle de mancha alvo na cultura da soja. O experimento foi conduzido no ano agricola 2014/2015 em condicoes de campo na fazenda Boa Esperanca, situada no municipio de Porto Nacional – TO. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso com quatro repeticoes, num total de seis tratamentos distintos. Foram realizadas as seguintes avaliacoes: Severidade da doenca, desfolha, indice de area verde, AACPD, massa de 1.000 graos e produtividade graos. A aplicacao de fungicidas promoveu menor progresso da mancha-alvo em soja, reducao na desfolha, aumento no indice de area verde, maior massa de 1.000 graos e maior produtividade de graos. A eficiencia de controle de mancha-alvo ( C. cassiicola ) na cultura da soja melhorou conforme foi aumentando o numero de aplicacoes de mancozebe associado aos fungicidas sistemicos. The application of fungicides promoted less progress of the target spot in soybeans, reduction in defoliation, increased green area index, the greater mass of 1.000 grains and higher grain yield. The Mancha control efficiency target ( C. cassiicola ) in soybean improved as was increasing the number of mancozeb applications associated with systemic fungicides.

Associação de fungicida protetor com fungicidas sistêmicos no controle de mancha-alvo na cultura da soja

Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum species is one of the main soybean diseases in Brazil. The objective was to evaluate fungicide programs in the control of anthracnose and productivity in the soybean crop, in an experiment carried out in the 2018/2019 harvest in Lucas do Rio Verde - MT; using cv. Monsoy 8210 IPRO with 20% seed inoculation with Colletotrichum truncatum. The experimental design was randomized blocks with four replications and application of nine fungicide programs at 30, 45 and 60 days after sowing (DAS). Area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC), incidence of symptoms in pods, number of pods/plants, defoliation, mass of a thousand grains, productivity and grain health were evaluated. Pathogen inoculation reduced plant stand and number of plants with cotyledons. The fungicide programs reduced the incidence and severity of anthracnose in the aboveground parts of plants in R5.3 and R5.5. The trifloxystrobin+cyproconazole (30 DAS) and trifloxystrobin+prothioconazole+mancozeb (45 and 60 DAS) programs showed a lower incidence of anthracnose symptoms in pods. The fungicide programs reduced defoliation at the R6 phenological stage. The program pyraclostrobin+epoxiconazole (30 DAS), fluxapyroxad+pyraclostrobin+copper oxychloride (45 DAS) and epoxiconazol+fluxapyroxade+pyraclostrobin+copper oxychloride (60 DAS); program with trifloxystrobin+cyproconazole (30 DAS) and trifloxystrobin+prothioconazole+mancozeb (45 and 60 DAS); and a program with propiconazole+difenoconazole (30 DAS), difeconazole+cyproconazole+chlorothalonil (45 DAS) and azoxystrobin+benzovindiflupyr+difeconazole+cyproconazole (60 DAS), reduced anthracnose AUDPC. Higher yield values and thousand seed weight were obtained with the trifloxystrobin+cyproconazole (30 DAS) and trifloxystrobin+prothioconazole+mancozeb (45 and 60 DAS) programs.

Programas de fungicidas no controle de antracnose na cultura da soja

O aumento significativo do numero de doencas causadas por fungos, tem sido um dos fatores limitantes para a maxima produtividade das principais culturas economicamente relevantes. Levando-se em consideracao que o controle quimico e o mais utilizado atualmente, a pesquisa sobre formas de controle alternativo torna-se indispensavel. Com isso, este trabalho avaliou a interacao entre fertilizantes foliares e fungicida para o controle in vitro sobre os fitopatogenos Colletotrichum truncatum e Corynespora cassiicola. Foram utilizados isolados de C. truncatum de soja (CN-1) e C. cassiicola de algodao. O experimento foi realizado utilizando-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado com os seguintes tratamentos: testemunha (controle negativo); Fox; Fox+Smart Cobre (0,4 L/ha); Fox+Smart Cobre (0,8 L/ha); Fox+TriTek; Fox+Protector DC (0,75 L/ha); Fox+Protector DC (1,00 L/ha); Fox+Protector DC+Smart Cobre; Fox+Protector DC+Smart Cobre+TriTek e Fox+Unizeb Gold. Avaliou-se a area abaixo da curva de progresso micelial (AACPM), taxa de crescimento (TC), inibicao do crescimento micelial, inibicao de esporulacao e inibicao de germinacao de esporos. A interacao entre fertilizantes foliares e fungicida foi eficiente no controle in vitro de Colletotrichum truncatum e Corynespora cassiicola.

Soybean is one of the main crop in the world, because is a source of food products, for animals and humans, besides its use as biofuels. Although new technologies have been used in this crop, its productivity has been limited mainly by the occurrence of diseases, such as anthracnose (Colletotrichum truncatum) and target spot (Corynespora cassiicola). Thus, the aim of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of fungicides for the control of anthracnose and target spot, applied to the leaves, in a commercial area in the north of Mato Grosso State, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks with eight treatments and three repetitions. The treatments were: T1- Control; T2- 1st Application: Pyraclostrobin + Epoxiconazole, 2nd Application: fluxapyroxad + Pyraclostrobin; T3- 1st Application: Azoxystrobin, 2nd Application: Azoxystrobin; T4- 1st Application: Pyraclostrobin, 2nd Application: Pyraclostrobin + Epoxiconazol; T5- 1st Application: Fluxapyroxad + Pyraclostrobin, 2nd Application: Fluxapyroxad + Pyraclostrobin; T6- 1st Application: Trifloxystrobin + Prothioconazol, 2nd Application: Trifloxystrobin + Prothioconazol; T7- 1st Application: Picoxystrobin + Cyproconazol, 2nd Application: Picoxystrobin + Cyproconazol; T8- 1st Application: Tebuconazol, 2nd Application: Tebuconazol. The first application of fungicides was at soybean flowering and the second, 15 days after the first application. There was no statistical difference among treatments to plant height, height of 1st pod, number of pods per plant and number of grains per plant. In relation to anthracnose, treatments did not differ significantly; however, treatment T2 was more efficient in controlling target spot. The treatments that increased the weight of 1000 seeds (g) were T1, T2, T5 and T6, but there was no difference among treatments for productivity (sacks ha-1).
