The aim of this study was to record and document the butterfly diversity in Deendayal Upadhyay Kisan Park, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India from December 2021 to May 2022, utilizing the line transect method. Throughout the study period, a total of 30 butterfly species from four families were identified and documented. The Nymphalidae family exhibited the highest representation, constituting 50% of the total species. Both Pieridae and Lycaenidae families contributed equally, each comprising 20% of the recorded species. The Papilionidae family had the lowest species composition, accounting for 10% of the documented butterflies. Approximately 47% of the butterflies were found to be commonly observed, while the remaining 33% were rarely sighted within the study area. These findings establish a foundational dataset and provide insights into the current status of butterfly species, serving as a platform for further research and the development of conservation strategies.

Composition and diversity of the nymphalid butterfly (lepidoptera: nymphalidae) in south sumatra, indonesia

The present study was done to account for the status and diversity of ornithofauna of Joggers Park, Lucknow, U.P., India. The field explorations were carried out from September 2021 to August 2022. During the period of study, a total of 62 species of ornithofauna were identified which belonged to 13 orders and 32 families. The order Passeriformes had a maximum number of bird count (34 species) belonging to 16 families. The least number of bird species was recorded in orders Strigiformes, Charadriiformes, Apodiformes, and Galliformes each containing 1 species. All the 62 avian species reported in Joggers Park come under the least concerned category of IUCN. Out of the total species, 49 species were resident and 13 Residents were Migratory (RM).

Unveiling anti-predator responses of river lapwing, Vanellus duvaucelii (Lesson, 1826)

Field surveys were carried out to assess the butterfly species diversity in different seasons in Joggers Park, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India in 2021 using the line transect method with the aid of digital cameras and binoculars. Joggers Park is rich in floral diversity and therefore, good habitat for butterflies. Altogether, 38 species of butterflies were recorded which belonged to 27 genera and 6 families. Out of the total 38 butterfly species, 58% were common, 29% rare and 13% were the most common species respectively. Nymphalidae was the most dominant (maximum number of 7 genera and 11 species) among the six families. Maximum species richness was reported during summer (April, May and June) and minimum in the rainy season (July, August and September). The present study might be useful in creating awareness among common masses and encouraging the conservation of a wide array of indigenous species of butterfly in the study area.

 This study investigated the foraging behaviour and diet composition of grey francolin (
 Ortygornis pondicerianus
 ) in different seasons (breeding and non-breeding) and habitats (agricultural land, tree-covered land, shrubland, and barren land). Focal sampling and faecal analysis methods were employed to examine the foraging behaviour and diet composition of the grey francolin, respectively. Foraging techniques showed non-significant (p=0.829) variation across different habitat types; however, walk-halt-peck (WHP) was the most commonly utilized foraging technique across all habitats. Additionally, foraging success varied significantly across seasons (p<0.05) and habitats (p<0.05). We recorded significantly higher feeding rates in the shrubland during the breeding season. The percentage of successful attempts was significantly higher (p<0.05) in the breeding season compared to the non-breeding season. Furthermore, faecal analysis results showed a significant (p<0.05) difference in composition between plant and animal matter, especially during the breeding season. However, the grit content showed non-significant variation (p>0.05) across seasons.
