Superparamagnetic Fe3O4@Alginate supported L‐arginine as a powerful hybrid inorganic–organic nanocatalyst for the one‐pot synthesis of pyrazole derivatives

Tandem synthesis, antibacterial evaluation and SwissADME prediction study of new bis(1,3,4-oxadiazoles) linked to arene units

Heterocyclic chemistry has fascinated the researchers owing to its wide range of applications in various chemical fields. With this perspective, herein we present an environmentally benign procedure for the synthesis of pyrazole and its derivatives through multicomponent reaction by using SPVA as a heterogeneous acid catalyst. The synthesis protocol of SPVA catalyst includes functionalization of polyvinyl alcohol by sulfonic acid groups. The synthesized SPVA catalyst was then subjected to several characterization techniques to confirm its formation and study its physicochemical properties. The SPVA catalyst was then tested for its activity toward a multicomponent reaction of aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile and phenyl hydrazine. The SPVA catalyst with sufficient acidic sites displayed appreciable catalytic performance yielding 89% of the desired pyrazole product under ambient reaction conditions. The SPVA catalyst showed recyclability up to the sixth cycle without considerable loss in its activity. Furthermore, we made an effort to demonstrate the plausible mechanistic pathway for the SPVA-catalyzed pyrazole synthesis reaction. Interestingly, the present synthetic approach could effectively produce pyrazole products with high yields in the absence of base and solvent and in short reaction time making it a green and sustainable process.

One-pot synthesis of multicomponent pyrazole-4-carbonitrile derivatives under solvent-free condition by using engineered polyvinyl alcohol catalyst

A novel, facile, one-pot, multicomponent protocol for the synthesis of 5-amino-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitrile derivatives has been developed using alumina–silica-supported MnO2 as recyclable catalyst in water and sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate at room temperature. The cyclo-condensation of substituted benzaldehydes, malononitrile and phenyl hydrazine gave the 5-amino-1,3-diphenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbonitriles in 86–96% yield.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are developed as a sustainable alternative to most of the volatile organic solvents As the research on ILs progress, they emerged also as suitable catalysts and reagents ILs possess unique set of properties with respect to their cationic and anionic components, which allows ILs to be used in varied fields They overcome many of the traditional limitations related to conventional organic synthesis This chapter discusses briefly about the ILs and their applications in organic synthesis We have selected five named reactions, Biginelli reaction, Knoevenagel reaction, Michael reaction, Heck reaction, and Friedel–Crafts alkylation and acylation, to show the utility of ILs in organic synthesis

Applications of Ionic Liquids in Organic Synthesis

Oxadiazoles are five-membered heterocyclic molecules possessing two carbon, two nitrogen, and one oxygen atom. They exist in four regioisomeric forms and established their potential for a wide range of applications. They have been successfully utilized as an essential part of the pharmacophore or as a flat, aromatic linker to place required substituents as per potential applications. These molecules have also been established themselves as potential high-energy core, and their derivatives have shown favorable oxygen balance and positive heat of formations. The current compilation covers the synthesis of all regioisomeric forms taking representative examples, medicinal applications of oxadiazoles as an anticancer, vasodilator, anticonvulsant, antidiabetic, and other miscellaneous applications. This article also discusses the energetic behavior possessed by oxadiazole derivatives.

Oxadiazoles: moiety to synthesis and utilize

The classification of plants on the basis of their chemical constituents is a powerful weapon for plant taxonomists. The chemotaxonomic classification, when applied with proper care and phytochemical inputs, is more useful than morphological- and anatomical-based classifications. However, chemotaxonomy also suffers from some noticeable disadvantages like the presence of common compounds in many plants. These compounds have small taxonomic values. Alkaloids are nitrogen-containing secondary metabolites present in plant kingdom. These alkaloids play significant role in chemotaxonomic classification of plants. The present chapter discusses the distribution of alkaloids in plants and their applications in plant taxonomy.
