Offline handwritten arabic character segmentation with probabilistic model
Pingping Xiu,Liangrui Peng,Xiaoqing Ding,Hua Wang +3 more
- 13 Feb 2006
TL;DR: A new probabilistic segmentation model is proposed, which takes into account both of the recognizer output and the geometric confidence besides with logical constraint, and is effective on handwritten Arabic documents with various writing styles.
Design and development of an ancient Chinese document recognition system
Liangrui Peng,Pingping Xiu,Xiaoqing Ding +2 more
- 15 Dec 2003
TL;DR: Experimental results show that the developed character recognition kernel of 19,635 Chinese characters outperforms the authors' original traditional Chinese recognition kernel; Benchmarked test on printed ancient Chinese books proves that the proposed system is effective for regular ancient Chinese documents.

Multi-queue merging scheme and its application in Arabic script segmentation
Pingping Xiu,Liangrui Peng,Xiaoqing Ding +2 more
- 27 Apr 2006
TL;DR: A multi-queue model based on a positional relationship graph (PRG) is produced among graphemes, based on the positional constraints, to merge the over-segmented subimages of characters into integral characters.
