由于人类活动和全球气候变化的叠加影响，湖泊富营养化和蓝藻水华仍是未来相当长一段时间内的水生态环境问题.蓝藻水华暴发会引发湖泊生态系统的灾害和饮用水安全风险，因此湖内蓝藻水华防控必不可少.现有蓝藻水华防控长效方法主要基于营养盐控制理论、浅水湖泊稳态转换理论和生物操纵理论，技术措施包括内源营养盐控制、生态修复、生物操纵.应急处置方法可以削减局部水域蓝藻水华强度，主要包括物理、化学方法.本文基于国内外研究治理案例，梳理了单项蓝藻防控技术运用的边界条件、蓝藻削减效果及防控成本.湖泊富营养化控制和蓝藻水华防控是一个长期而艰巨的系统工程，必须采取流域污染削减和湖内防控相结合的治理策略.湖泊水质与水生态的持续跟踪监测以及水质和水生态预测模型的构建，是动态调整治理方案、保障治理效果长效稳定的基础.;Lake eutrophication and cyanobacterial blooms are water ecological and environmental problems for a long time to come, due to the synergistic effects of human activities and global climate change. The outbreak of lake cyanobacterial blooms would entail water ecological risk and drinking water crisis, thus curative methods to suppress the proliferation of cyanobacteria bloom are imperative. Nutrient control, shallow lake regime shifts and biological manipulation are theoretical basis for the long-term strategies for cyanobacteria blooms prevention and control. Accordingly, external and internal nutrient loading reduction, ecological restoration and biomanipulation are sustainable control and management approaches. In addition, methods used for emergency situations can mitigate the intensity of cyanobacterial bloom, mainly including physical and chemical approaches. Based on the review of the domestic and international cases on cyanobacterial bloom control, we sort out the applicable conditions, cyanobacterial mitigation efficiency and performance cost of each approach. In fact, lake eutrophication management and cyanobacterial bloom mitigation are a long-term and systematic process. These in-lake strategies should invariably be accompanied by nutrient input reductions. The continuous monitoring of lake water quality and water ecology as well as the building of prediction model support the further adjustment of strategies and measures to ensure long-term success and sustainability. 

Review on the control and mitigation strategies of lake cyanobacterial blooms

This study analyses the income effects of farm households' conservation tillage adoption on agricultural income in China. Based on survey data of 704 farm households from Jianghan Plain, central China, Heckman two-stage and propensity score matching models are employed to quantitatively measure the income effect of farm households' adoption of rice and fish co-cultivation, including six aquatic animals. The results reveal that most farmers have adopted rice and fish co-cultivation methods, but with limited adoption intensity. The number of farmers engaged in co-cultivation and farmers' degree of knowledge and cognition significantly influence adoption and increase adoption intensity. Compared with the non-adoption group, the agricultural income of rice and fish co-cultivation system adoption improved adopters’ incomes by 35.15%. In conclusion, rice and fish co-cultivation publicity, technical training and compensation are highly beneficial and recommended. 

Does conservation tillage adoption improve farmers’ agricultural income? A case study of the rice and fish co-cultivation system in Jianghan Plain, China

We analysed long-term monitoring data on submerged macrophytes and water chemistry from 666 Danish lakes > 1 hectare and mean depth < 3 m, encompassing a total of 1447 lake years. Our aim was to describe how plant cover (COV), plant volume inhabited (PVI) and species richness related to physical and chemical and environmental variables. Boosted regression tree (BRT) analyses revealed that chlorophyll a, Secchi depth and depth were the strongest predictors of COV and PVI. Chlorophyll had a strong negative effect up to 50 µg/l, whereas the changes related to Secchi depth and depth were more gradual and covered more of the gradient. Macrophyte species richness was best predicted by lake area and alkalinity, with chlorophyll a, nutrients and colour having significant but less marked effects. For chlorophyll a, 78% of the observed variance could be explained by the BRT model, with the most powerful predictors being both phosphorus and nitrogen, but with significant additional effects of plant cover and alkalinity. Our analyses revealed limited direct effect of nutrients on macrophyte abundance, but an indirect hierarchical effect of nutrients mediated through chlorophyll a with additional interactive effects by plant cover itself, alkalinity, mean depth and colour.

Submerged macrophytes in Danish lakes: impact of morphological and chemical factors on abundance and species richness

Reclaimed water is an effective method for addressing water pollution and shortages. However, its use may contribute to the collapse of receiving water (algal blooms and eutrophication) owing to its unique characteristics. A three-year biomanipulation project was conducted in Beijing to investigate the structural changes, stability, and potential risks to aquatic ecosystems associated with the reuse of reclaimed water in rivers. During the biomanipulation, the proportion of Cyanophyta in the community structure of phytoplankton density in river supplied with reclaimed water decreased, and the community composition shifted from Cyanophyta and Chlorophyta to Chlorophyta and Bacillariophyta. The biomanipulation project increased the number of zoobenthos and fish species and significantly increased fish density. Despite the significant difference in aquatic organisms community structure, diversity index and community stability of aquatic organisms remained stable during the biomanipulation. Our study provides a strategy for minimizing the hazards of reclaimed water through biomanipulation by reconstructing the community structure of reclaimed water, thereby making it safe for large-scale reuse in rivers.

Do submerged macrophytes facilitate the development of large crustacean zooplankton in tropical shallow lakes?

The genetic diversity of 52 kiwifruit wild germplasms, which were collected by the kiwifruit germplasm nursery of the Guangxi Institute of Botany, was studied using start-codon-targeted (SCoT) molecular markers. The objective was to understand the genetic relationships of the 52 kiwifruit wild germplasms. The results showed that a total of 113 bands were amplified from 52 wild kiwifruit germplasms using 10 primers (9–17 bands per primer, 11.3 on average), of which 103 (91.15%) were polymorphic bands (10.3 bands per primer). The genetic identity of the 52 wild kiwifruit germplasms was in the range of 0.405–1.000, with an average of 0.709. The genetic distance was 0.000–0.904, with an average of 0.355. At the threshold of 0.650, the germplasms were clustered into three clusters. The genetic distances between Guilin and Fushekuoye and between Jinhua and Liangye were both the smallest (0.000), meaning they had a similarity of 100%, as indicated by the SCoT molecular markers. In conclusion, the genetic relationships at the molecular level (genetic distance) were clustered preferentially according to the place of origin instead of by morphological classification, geographical distribution, or ploidy. The genetic relationships between wild kiwifruit germplasms were partially verified through disease resistance analysis.

Rice–fish coculture system enhances paddy soil fertility, bacterial network stability and keystone taxa diversity

Transplantation of submerged macrophytes to restore shallow lakes has been used as an effective measure to maintain a clear water state. Water quality is highly correlated with submerged macrophytes community, however, the relationships between water quality and the diversity, coverage and biomass of submerged macrophytes are, so far, not yet well studied. We analyzed the correlations of nutrient concentrations, water clarity and phytoplankton biomass with the metrics of submerged macrophytes community in two Chinese restored shallow subtropical lakes, Lake Wuli (Wuli-E, 5 ha) and Lake Qinhu (Qin-E, 8 ha). A similar biomass of submerged macrophytes was transplanted into each lake, while both the species richness and coverage of macrophytes in Qin-E were lower than Wuli-E. After a 1–2-year restoration, the diversity almost had no change, but the biomass density and coverage decreased in Wuli-E. As for Qin-E, the coverage of submerged macrophytes increased but biomass density and diversity decreased. The dominance of canopy-forming submerged macrophyte species Myriophyllum spicatum was observed in Qin-E and less meadow-forming biomass and species was observed than that in Wuli-E. Moreover, it was also observed that Wuli-E had a better water quality than that of Qin-E after transplantation. Path analysis results showed that macrophyte coverage and the diversity related to meadow-forming species (e.g., Vallisneria spinulosa) had strong effects on enhancing clarity and reducing nutrient concentrations. But the high biomass density accompanied by the canopy-forming species like M. spicatum was unfavorable for controlling nutrients. Our results provide important insight into the different roles that macrophyte diversity, biomass and coverage play in improving water clarity and controlling nutrient concentrations. This new knowledge will be instrumental in implementing more effective lake restoration, especially using macrophyte transplantation as a restoration tool in warm shallow lakes.
