Serum sCD163 Levels Are Associated with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Are Influenced by Coffee and Wine Consumption: Results of the Di@bet.es Study
Gemma Rojo-Martínez,Elsa Maymó-Masip,M. Mar Rodríguez,Esther Solano,Albert Goday,Federico Soriguer,Sergio Valdés,Felipe J. Chaves,Elías Delgado,Natalia Colomo,Pilar Hernández,Joan Vendrell,Matilde R. Chacón +12 more
TL;DR: High circulating levels of sCD163 are associated with type 2 diabetes in the Spanish population and the association between coffee and red wine intake and these biomarkers deserves further study to confirm its potential role in type 2abetes.

P53 protein expression in gastric adenocarcinoma. Negative predictor of survival after postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy.
Díez M,María José Medrano,A. Gutiérrez,López A,Mugüerza Jm,Pilar Hernández,O. Lozano,F. Noguerales,A. Ruiz,J. Granell +9 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy acted differently in p53-positive than in p 53-negative gastric tumors, and absence of p53 overexpression is associated to longer survival when adjuant therapy is administered.

The effect of divergent selection for intramuscular fat on the domestic rabbit genome
Bolívar Samuel Sosa-Madrid,Luis Varona,Agustín Blasco,Pilar Hernández,Cristina Casto-Rebollo,Noelia Ibáñez-Escriche +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that intramuscular fat selection influenced multiple genomic regions which can be a consequence of either only selection effect or the combined effect of selection and genetic drift.

Golden measurements at a neutrino factory
A. Cervera,Andrea Donini,M.B. Gavela,J. J. Gomez Y Cadenas,Pilar Hernández,Olga Mena,Stefano Rigolin +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the precision and discovery potential of a neutrino factory based on muon storage rings is studied, and the appearance of ''wrong-sign muons'' at three reference baselines is considered.
Environmental isolation explains Iberian genetic diversity in the highly homozygous model grass Brachypodium distachyon.
Isabel Marques,Valeriia Shiposha,Valeriia Shiposha,Diana López-Alvarez,Antonio J. Manzaneda,Pilar Hernández,Marina V. Olonova,Pilar Catalán,Pilar Catalán +8 more
TL;DR: The finding of higher genetic diversity in eastern Iberian populations occurring in basic soils suggests that these populations can be better adapted than those occurring in western areas of the Iberia Peninsula where the soils are more acidic and accumulate toxic Al ions.
