TL;DR: In this paper, a method for the selective transformation of glycerol (1,2,3-propanetriol, glycerin) into 1,3 -Dihydroxyacetone, DHA using oxidizing agents available at low cost such as sources of positive halogen used in the presence of Lewis acids as catalysts was presented.
