Chronic stress increases experimental pancreatic cancer growth, reduces survival and can be antagonised by beta-adrenergic receptor blockade
Lars Ivo Partecke,Sven Speerforck,Andre Käding,Florian Seubert,Sandra Kühn,Eric Lorenz,Sebastian Schwandke,Matthias Sendler,Wolfram Keßler,Dung Nguyen Trung,Stefan Oswald,Frank Ulrich Weiss,Julia Mayerle,Christin Henkel,Pia Menges,Katharina Beyer,Markus M. Lerch,Claus-Dieter Heidecke,Wolfram von Bernstorff +18 more
TL;DR: The potential treatment with beta-blockers of patients with pancreatic cancer or other malignancies should be further evaluated as an adjuvant anti-neoplastic agent in clinical trials.

The role of the vagus nerve: modulation of the inflammatory reaction in murine polymicrobial sepsis.
Wolfram Kessler,Stephan Diedrich,Pia Menges,Tobias Ebker,Michael Nielson,Lars Ivo Partecke,Tobias Traeger,K. Cziupka,Julia van der Linde,Ralf Puls,Alexandra Busemann,Claus-Dieter Heidecke,Stefan Maier +12 more
TL;DR: The vagus nerve has a modulating influence in polymicrobial sepsis by attenuating the immune dysregulation through the modulation of inflammation in the murine model of colon ascendens stent peritonitis.

Visceral Surgery Profoundly Affects the Cellular and Humoral Components of the Anti-Tumour Immune Response in a Murine Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Model
TL;DR: A murine model combining an orthotopically implanted adenocarcinoma of the pancreas and the model of surgically-induced immune dysfunction was used to assess the impact of postoperative immunosuppression on the growth of the primary tumour, on mortality and on the most important immune cell compartments in tumour defence.

TL;DR: In this paper, the Herdsanierung als kausaler Therapie bestandteil einschlieslich der Frage, ob and welche Spulregimes angewandt werden sollen, sowie die Besonderheiten des Laparostomas wernd im Folgenden diskutiert.
Surgical trauma and postoperative immune dysfunction.
Pia Menges,Wolfram Kessler,C. Kloecker,M. Feuerherd,S. Gaubert,S. Diedrich,J. van der Linde,A. Hegenbart,Alexandra Busemann,Tobias Traeger,K. Cziupka,Claus-Dieter Heidecke,Stefan A. Maier +12 more
TL;DR: The completion of the previously published sepsis classification due to the immune status at the onset of septicaemia is suggested: type A as the spontaneously acquired sepsi and type B as seps is in trauma-induced pre-existing immune suppression.
