Biologic effects of recombinant hirudin (CGP 39393) in human volunteers
Marc Verstraete,Michael T. Nurmohamed,J Kienast,Mathias Siebeck,Gerda Silling-Engelhardt,Harry R. Büller,B Hoet,J. Bichler,Philippe Close,Philippe Close +9 more
TL;DR: The activated partial thromboplastin time test seems to be well suited to monitor the anticoagulant effect of recombinant hirudin because the dose effect is linear up to 0.5 mg/kg of subcutaneous CGP 39393.

Direct thrombin inhibition with Rec-hirudin CGP 39393 as prophylaxis of thromboembolic complications after total hip replacement.
TL;DR: CGP 39393 was safe and well tolerated, when administered as subcutaneous injections of 10-20 mg twice daily, and resulted in serious disturbance of the hemostasis in patients after hip prosthesis surgery.

Clinical pharmacology of intravenously administered recombinant desulfatohirudin (CGP 39393) in healthy volunteers.
G A Marbet,Marc Verstraete,J Kienast,P Graf,B Hoet,D.A. Tsakiris,G Silling-Engelhardt,Philippe Close +7 more
TL;DR: Clinical pharmacology of the intravenously administered recombinant desulfatohirudin CGP 39393 was investigated in 47 healthy volunteers in a multicenter study and APTT appears to be most suitable for monitoring the anticoagulant effect of C GP 39393 over a broad concentration range.

Percentage of inadequate phlebograms and observer agreement in thromboprophylactic multicenter trials using standardized methodology and central assessment.
Peter Kälebo,Steffan Ekman,Siv Lindbratt,Bengt I. Eriksson,U Pauli,B. E. Zachrisson,Philippe Close +6 more
TL;DR: Low inadequacy rates for phlebograms are demonstrated using a standardized methodology and superior intra-observer agreement compared to inter-ob server agreement and supports the importance of central assessment of phle bograms in thromboprophylactic multicenter trials to reduce observer variability.

Weak allergenicity of recombinant hirudin CGP 39393 (REVASC) in immunocompetent volunteers. The European Hirudin in Thrombosis Group (HIT Group).
Philippe Close,J Bichler,R Kerry,S Ekman,H R Bueller,J Kienast,G A Marbet,W Schramm,Marc Verstraete +8 more
TL;DR: Recombinant hirudin CGP 39393 appears to be a weak allergen that is safe in fully immunocompetent subjects, including those with a history of previous allergies and high levels of total IgE.
