Digital fingerprinting is a technology for tracing the distribution of multimedia content and protecting them from unauthorized redistribution. Collusion attack is a cost effective attack against digital fingerprinting where several copies with the same content but different fingerprints are combined to remove the original fingerprints. In this paper, we consider average attack and several nonlinear collusion attacks on independent Gaussian based fingerprints, and study the detection performance of several commonly used detection statistics in the literature under collusion attacks. Observing that these detection statistics are not specifically designed for collusion scenarios and do not take into account the characteristics of the newly generated fingerprints under collusion attacks, we propose pre-processing techniques to improve the detection performance of the detection statistics under collusion attacks.

Performance of detection statistics under collusion attacks on independent multimedia fingerprints

It is well known that TCP protocol behaves quiet loosely in mobile wireless environments. In fact, when a mobile host moves from one IP domain to another it has to get a new IP address in the new domain. This process of getting a new IP address should be automatic and fast enough in order to keep active any running TCP session without loosing the quality of service provided to the user. Mobile IP has been developed to manage the user mobility in mobile wireless networks. However, this protocol is not well suited to support a TCP handoffs during the node's handover process which will help in keeping active any running TCP sessions. In this paper, we have designed a new management architecture which will ensure the continuity of any TCP connection when a mobile host executes a handover. In order to validate our architecture, we have evaluated its performance by adopting an analytical model.

Performance evaluation of TCP handoffs over mobile IP connections

The lack of privileged access to emergent and operational deployments is one of the key matters during validation and testing of novel telecommunication systems and technologies. This matter jeopardizes the repeatability of experiments, which results in burdens for innovation and research in these areas. In this light, we present a method and architecture to make the software-driven definition of virtual testbeds easier. As distinguishing features, our proposal can mimic operational deployments by using high-dimensional activity patterns. These activity patterns shape the effect of a control module that triggers agents for the generation of network traffic. This solution exploits the capabilities of network emulation and virtualization systems, which nowadays can be easily deployed in commodity servers. With this, we accomplish a reproducible definition of realistic experimental conditions and the introduction of real agent implementations in a cost-effective fashion. We evaluate our solution in a case study that is comprised of the validation of a network-monitoring tool for Voice over IP (VoIP) deployments. Our experimental results support the viability of the method and illustrate how this formulation can improve the experimentation in emergent technologies.

kontinuierlich und transparent bereitzustellen. Ferner 
wird ein Verfahren vorgeschlagen, das die Effizienz 
beim Diensttransfer (Handover) erhoht. Fur dessen 
Evaluierung wird eine Modellierung der 
Handovercharakteristik mobiler Teilnehmer entwickelt, 
welche die auftretenden Hystereseeffekte 
berucksichtigt.

Advanced Network Services using Programmable Networks

In this paper we describe a new flexible and universally applicable testbed for Internet-based multimedia applications. Our approach combines the technology of programmable networks with emulated network environments and delivers a virtual programmable testbed (VPT). In this work we show that a VPT is well suited for rapid creation and evaluation of distributed multimedia applications. There are three advantages of our approach compared to previously proposed testbed solutions: first, the software for processing IP datagrams, so called atomic modules, only depends on the programmable platform deployed, making it reusable. Second, loading several atomic modules concurrently allows the easy setup of customized test environments, e.g., channel models. Third, the application being developed can be tested under various network conditions (failures, congestion, etc.) at an early stage. Based on our VPT, distributed multimedia services can be created and evaluated both fast and economically in emulated environments without expensive and complex hardware setup.

A scalable virtual programmable real-time testbed for rapid multimedia service creation and evaluation

When designing Mobile IP, achieving full transparency for higher layer protocols was one of the main design goals. However, this resulted in several weaknesses, one of them being the decline of TCP's performance in the case of frequent handoffs. Our proposal, handoff-triggered TCP (hot-TCP), enhances TCP's throughput in that case. After a handoff, TCP is notified about the reconnection and may immediately resume data transmission using the previous window size. Since we may not change the remote hosts on the Internet, hot-TCP is used within a split transport connection architecture. We evaluate hot-TCP regarding its performance and fairness in a multiuser environment. The results presented show that a mobile node using hot-TCP does not impact the fair sharing of the wireless link's capacity. Furthermore, we discuss the security requirements for our approach.

GRID computing in the Internet faces two fundamental challenges. First the development of an appropriate middleware for provision of computing services in a scalable and secure manner. Second the distributed, scalable and fast connection of GRID processing components to the network. The latter is important to enable fast data exchange among the distributed components of virtualized super-computers.
