Effects of forest management on bird assemblages in oak-dominated stands of the Western Carpathians – Refuges for rare species
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared bird assemblages in oak (Quercus spp.)dominated forests with admixtures of European beech (Fagus sylvatica), referred to as oak-beech forests, between managed and natural forest stands on opposite sides of the Carpathian range.

Response of the dominant rodent species to close-to-nature logging practices in a temperate mixed forest
TL;DR: It is demonstrated clearly that these species modify their spatial activity depending on the management of the woodland.

A comparison of three different approaches for the classification of bird foraging guilds : an effect of leaf phenophase
Peter Lešo,Rudolf Kropil +1 more
TL;DR: The study of foraging behaviour of 20 forest bird species was conducted during two different phenophases of a vegetation period in the West Carpathians oak-dominated natural forests, and differences in guild densities between a priori and a posteriori approaches emerged.

The vertical form of the common ivy Hedera helix L. is associated with diverse and semi-natural forests in Central European highlands
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors investigated the determinants of vertical form of the common ivy Hedera helix L. occurrence in highland forests in Central Europe, where they established 69 pairs of sites, which consisted of areas inhabited by the vertical form and control areas (hereafter non-ivy plots).
