12R-lipoxygenase deficiency disrupts epidermal barrier function
Nikolas Epp,Gerhard Fürstenberger,Karsten Müller,Silvia de Juanes,Michael Leitges,Ingrid Hausser,Florian Thieme,Gerhard Liebisch,Gerd Schmitz,Peter Krieg +9 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that the 12R-LOX–eLOX-3 pathway plays a key role in the process of epidermal barrier acquisition by affecting lipid metabolism, as well as protein processing.

The simultaneous extraction of high-molecular-weight DNA and of RNA from solid tumors
TL;DR: The efficient isolation of papilloma virions from keratinized wart tissue is facilitated by the application of the Mikro-dismembrator, and the quality of the purified nucleic acids permits the detailed analysis of integrated tumor virus DNA sequences and their mRNA transcripts.

Adipocyte differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes is dependent on lipoxygenase activity during the initial stages of the differentiation process
Lise Madsen,Rasmus Koefoed Petersen,Morten B Sørensen,Claus Jørgensen,Philip Hallenborg,Lone Pridal,Jan Fleckner,Ez-Zoubir Amri,Peter Krieg,Gerhard Fürstenberger,Rolf K. Berge,Karsten Kristiansen +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that adipogenic conversion of 3T3-L1 cells requires PPARgamma ligands only during the first 4 days of the differentiation process, and suggested that endogenous PPARGamma ligand(s) promoting adipocyte differentiation are generated via a baicalein-sensitive pathway involving the novel eLOX-3.

Molecular analysis of 250 patients with autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis: evidence for mutation hotspots in ALOXE3 and allelic heterogeneity in ALOX12B.
Katja Martina Eckl,Silvia de Juanes,Janine Kurtenbach,Marc Nätebus,Jenny Lugassy,Jenny Lugassy,Vinzenz Oji,Heiko Traupe,Marie-Luise Preil,Francisco Martínez,Josef Smolle,Avikam Harel,Peter Krieg,Eli Sprecher,Eli Sprecher,Hans Christian Hennies +15 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that mutations in the two genes ALOX12B and ALOXE3 are the second most common cause for ARCI in this cohort of patients and the pivotal role of the 12-lipoxygenase pathway during epidermal differentiation is established.

Expression pattern of a gene for a secreted metalloproteinase during late stages of tumor progression.
Lawrence E. Ostrowski,Joanne S. Finch,Peter Krieg,Lynn M. Matrisian,George Patskan,John F. O'connell,James L. Phillips,Thomas J. Slaga,Richard Breathnach,G. Tim Bowden +9 more
TL;DR: Transin RNA, a 1.9‐kb RNA coding for a novel, secreted proteinase, was overexpressed during the progression of benign mouse skin papillomas to malignant squamous cell carcinomas induced by a two‐stage protocol.
