Effects of fluid therapy following aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage: a prospective clinical study
TL;DR: Intravenous fluid therapy using synthetic colloids or blood transfusions may be associated with increased unfavourable outcome following aSAH, and Associations between synthetic colloid and crystalloids with GOS at 6 months were dose-related.

A combined microdialysis and FDG-PET study of glucose metabolism in head injury.
Peter J. Hutchinson,M. T. O’Connell,Alex Seal,Jurgens Nortje,Ivan Timofeev,Pippa G. Al-Rawi,Jonathan P. Coles,Tim D. Fryer,David K. Menon,John D. Pickard,Keri L.H. Carpenter +10 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that in this population of patients, glucose was metabolised to both lactate and pyruvate, but was not associated with a increase in the L/P ratio, which suggests an increase in glucose metabolism to both calcium and lactate, as opposed to a shift towards anaerobic metabolism.

Cerebrovascular pressure reactivity monitoring using wavelet analysis in traumatic brain injury patients: A retrospective study.
Xiuyun Liu,Joseph Donnelly,Marek Czosnyka,Marek Czosnyka,Marcel J. H. Aries,Marcel J. H. Aries,Kenneth Martin Brady,Danilo Cardim,Chiara Robba,Chiara Robba,Manuel Cabeleira,Dong-Joo Kim,Christina Haubrich,Peter J. Hutchinson,Peter Smielewski +14 more
TL;DR: A more robust transform-based wavelet pressure reactivity index (wPRx) is introduced and it is shown to be more stable in time, it yields a more consistent CPPopt recommendation, and, importantly, it has a stronger relationship with patient outcome.
Prospective study of clinical and radiological outcome after anterior cervical discectomy.
TL;DR: At 12 months, the overall alignment of the cervical spine and the presence of segmental kyphosis at the operated level were correlated with clinical outcome measured by SF 36, Neck Disability Index and visual analogue neck pain score.

Survival Trends After Surgery for Acute Subdural Hematoma in Adults Over a 20-year Period.
Daniel M Fountain,Angelos G. Kolias,Fiona Lecky,Omar Bouamra,Thomas Lawrence,Hadie Adams,Simon Bond,Simon Bond,Peter J. Hutchinson +8 more
TL;DR: A significant improvement in survival over the last 20 years was observed after controlling for multiple prognostic factors, and Prospective trials and cohort studies are expected to elucidate the distribution of functional outcome in survivors.
