Inclusion body myositis: Investigation of the mumps virus hypothesis by polymerase chain reaction
TL;DR: The results therefore do not support the mumps hypothesis for IBM and the integrity of muscle RNA extracts was confirmed by PCR detection of constitutive Ableson tyrosine kinase mRNA.

Search for persistent enterovirus infection of muscle in inflammatory myopathies
TL;DR: To investigate the hypothesis that the inflammatory muscle diseases (IMD) polymyositis and dermatomyositis (PM) may be due to a chronic, persistent enterovirus (EV) infection, it is sought to determine the prevalence of these viruses in muscle tissue using both nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and dot-blot hybridization assays.
