Weight-length relationships for selected fish species of the small-scale demersal fisheries of the south and south-west coast of Portugal
TL;DR: Weight-length relationships were estimated for 31 fish species from the south and south-west coasts of Portugal as discussed by the authors, mainly sea breams (Sparidae), which dominate the catches of the main fixed gears used in this region and account for more than 50% and 40% of the total fish landings by weight and by value.

Seasonal, tidal and diurnal changes in fish assemblages in the Ria Formosa lagoon (Portugal)
J. Ribeiro,Luis Bentes,Rui Coelho,Jorge M.S. Gonçalves,Pedro G. Lino,Pedro Monteiro,Karim Erzini +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a small beam trawl was used to collect fish assemblages at low and high tides in two different shallow sites, seagrass and sand, in the Ria Formosa coastal lagoon (South Portugal).

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of season, depth, and inner and outer panel mesh size on the trammel net catch species composition and catch rates in four southern European areas (Northeast Atlantic: Basque Country, Spain; Algarve, Portugal; Gulf of Cadiz, Spain, Mediterranean: Cyclades, Greece) was identified and quantified.

Species and size selectivity in a Portuguese multispecies artisanal long-line fishery
TL;DR: The species and size selectivity of long-lines using small hooks were studied off the south coast of Portugal using “Mustad” brand round bent, flatted sea hooks (Quality 2316 DT) numbers 15, 13, and 11 baited with razor shell clam (Ensis siliqua).

An overview of the hooking mortality of elasmobranchs caught in a swordfish pelagic longline fishery in the Atlantic Ocean
TL;DR: Hooking (or "at-haulback") fishing mortality was analysed in elasmobranchs captured by Portuguese long- liners targeting swordfish in the Atlantic Ocean, and new information can be used to evaluate the impact of recent recommendations prohibiting the retention of some vulnerable elasmo- branch species.
