Early childhood nutrition and academic achievement: a longitudinal analysis
TL;DR: The authors investigated the nutrition-learning nexus using a unique longitudinal data set that follows a large sample of Filipino children from birth until the end of their primary education and found that better nourished children perform significantly better in school, partly because they enter school earlier and thus have more time to learn but mostly because of greater learning productivity per year of schooling.

Why Does Mother's Schooling Raise Child Health in Developing Countries? Evidence from Morocco.
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used data from Morocco to assess the role played by three possible mechanisms: (1) Formal education directly teaches health knowledge to future mothers; (2) Literacy and numeracy skills acquired in school assist future mothers in diagnosing and treating child health problems; and (3) Exposure to modern society from formal schooling makes women more receptive to modern medical treatments.
