Existence and uniqueness conditions for the periodic solutions of the discrete-time periodic Lyapunov equation
Paolo Bolzern,Patrizio Colaneri +1 more
- 01 Dec 1986
TL;DR: In this paper, the discrete-time periodic Lyapunov equation (DPLE) is considered and the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of DPLE are worked out, also treated the case of positive (semi)definite solutions.

Optimal robust filtering for linear systems subject to time-varying parameter perturbations
Paolo Bolzern,Patrizio Colaneri,G. De Nicolao +2 more
- 15 Dec 1993
TL;DR: In this article, an optimal robust filter that minimizes the covariance of the estimation error is designed for stochastic linear systems subject to time-varying parameter uncertainties in the state and output matrices.

Discrete-Time Linear Periodic Systems: Stabilization and Zero Error Regulation
TL;DR: In this paper, two classical problems of control theory, output stabilization and zero-error regulation, are tackled in discrete-time linear periodic systems, involving a suitably periodic pole placement technique and the theory of the difference periodic Riccati equation, and a consistent definition of zeros of periodic system and of "periodic integrators" allow to define a control structure capable of robustly zeroing the error produced by periodic exogenous signals.

Simultaneous performance achievement via compensator blending
TL;DR: The dual version of the problem of designing a state-feedback controller that simultaneously achieves different optimality criteria defined on different input-output pairs is considered and it is shown how to achieve simultaneous optimality by filter blending.

The spectral interactor matrix for the singular Riccati equation
Sergio Bittanti,Patrizio Colaneri,M.F. Mongiovi +2 more
- 14 Dec 1994
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors introduce the notion of spectral interactor matrix (SIM), which is a matrix preserving the spectral properties of the underlying system, and prove that the solutions can be seen as the result of two contributions, one associated with the finite zeros outside the unit circle and the second produced by the zeros at infinity.
