Visceral and vascular complications resulting from anterior lumbar interbody fusion
Viswanathan Rajaraman,Roy D. Vingan,Patrick Roth,Robert F. Heary,Lisa Conklin,George B. Jacobs +5 more
TL;DR: Although many of these complications have been recognized in the literature, the significance of sympathetic dysfunction appears to have been underestimated and the high incidence of complications in this series likely reflects the strict criteria.

GDF-15 Contributes to Proliferation and Immune Escape of Malignant Gliomas
Patrick Roth,Patrick Roth,Markus Junker,Isabel Tritschler,Michel Mittelbronn,Yvonne Dombrowski,Samuel N. Breit,Ghazaleh Tabatabai,Ghazaleh Tabatabai,Wolfgang Wick,Michael Weller,Michael Weller,Jörg Wischhusen,Jörg Wischhusen +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that GDF-15 at endogenous levels contributes to proliferation and immune escape of malignant gliomas in an immunocompetent host.

Malignant glioma cells counteract antitumor immune responses through expression of lectin-like transcript-1.
Patrick Roth,Michel Mittelbronn,Wolfgang Wick,Richard Meyermann,Marcos Tatagiba,Michael Weller +5 more
TL;DR: It is reported that glioma cells express Lectin-like transcript-1 mRNA and protein in vitro and in vivo, whereas expression levels in normal brain are low, and it is shown that transforming growth factor-beta up-regulates the expression of LLT1 in gliomas.

Prognostic impact of meningeal dissemination in primary CNS lymphoma (PCNSL): experience from the G-PCNSL-SG1 trial
Agnieszka Korfel,Michael Weller,Michael Weller,Peter Martus,Patrick Roth,Patrick Roth,H. A. Berdel,Josef Birkmann,Michael Hummel,Eckhard Thiel,Lars Fischer +21 more
TL;DR: In immunocompetent adult patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma treated in a randomized phase III trial, MD was detected infrequently and had no impact on outcome in this trial.

Interferon-β Induces Loss of Spherogenicity and Overcomes Therapy Resistance of Glioblastoma Stem Cells
Caroline Happold,Patrick Roth,Manuela Silginer,Ana-Maria Florea,Katrin Lamszus,Karl Frei,René Deenen,Guido Reifenberger,Michael Weller +8 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that long-term glioma cell lines as well as gliOMA-initiating cell lines (GIC) express receptors for the immune modulatory cytokine IFN-β and respond to IFn-β with induction of STAT-3 phosphorylation, indicating a potential adjunct to glioblastoma treatment that may target the GIC population.
