Shear effects on hollow section piers under seismic actions: experimental and numerical analysis
TL;DR: In this paper, an experimental/numerical campaign carried out on 1:4 reduced scale bridge piers in order to highlight and investigate shear-type problems was carried out, and the numerical strategy was based on a detailed 3D FEM discretization using a two-scalar variable damage model for the concrete constitutive law and a suitable cyclic behaviour law for steel bars represented by truss elements.

Seismic behavior of strengthened RC columns under biaxial loading: An experimental characterization
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an experimental campaign of different strengthening strategies of RC columns, and evaluate benefits concerning their structural behavior for cyclic loading, and explore the possibility of using this techniques on the improvement of existing buildings performance.

Retrofit of RC hollow piers with CFRP sheets
TL;DR: In this paper, the experimental analysis of retrofit solutions using CFRP sheets along the piers' entire height to prevent shear failure was carried out to evaluate the shear retrofit strategy efficiency on a set of RC piers with square hollow sections.

TL;DR: A brief review of the literature concerning the numerical and experimental research performed as well as the detailing recommendation and general criteria and procedures used in the concrete jacketing is performed in this article.

Seismic retrofit of RC frames
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the numerical simulation of different strategies for the seismic retrofit of reinforced concrete frames, comparing the obtained solutions with the experimental results, and evaluating benefits concerning their structural behaviour under the seismic action.
