Characterization of dynamic mechanical alterations of supercritical CO2-interacted coal through gamma-ray attenuation, ultrasonic and X-ray computed tomography techniques
K.H.S.M. Sampath,Mandadige Samintha Anne Perera,Dongyin Li,Pathegama Gamage Ranjith,Stephan Matthäi +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors combine three non-destructive techniques, viz. gamma-ray attenuation, ultrasonic technique and micro computed tomography, to evaluate the S-CO2 interaction induced localized and anisotropic micro-structural alterations and the consequent mechanical response of a heterogeneous coal core specimen.

Experimental study of matrix permeability of gas shale: An application to CO2-based shale fracturing
TL;DR: In this article, a series of permeability tests was conducted on cylindrical shale samples 38 mm in diameter and 19 mm long using water, CO2 in different phases and N2 considering multiple influencing factors, and the results showed that the apparent permeability of shale matrix to gaseous CO2 or N2 is greatly over-estimated compared with intrinsic permeability or that of liquid CO2 due to the Klinkenberg effect.

Progressive deformation and pore network attributes of sandstone at in-situ stress states using computed tomography
Bankim Mahanta,Bankim Mahanta,Vikram Vishal,N. N. Sirdesai,Pathegama Gamage Ranjith,Trilok Singh +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the real-time high-resolution micro-computed tomography (m-CT) based microscopic failure attributes of sandstone under unconfined axial compression.
